Former Wu-Tang Clan Affiliate Lord Superb Passes Away

Lord Superb has apparently passed away. DJ Premier, Roc Marciano and Lord Jamar are three of the many who took to social media to mourn the passing of the former Wu-Tang Clan affiliate. The tweets starting pouring in on Tuesday (October 9).

Lord Jamar wrote a heartfelt tribute in an Instagram post.

“Rest In Power to my baby bro Jamel Bibbs p.k.a. LORD SUPERB,” he wrote. “I’m saddened by his passing, because I watched this talented young soul grow up from the age of 16, but because of poor choices he never truly lived up to his POTENTIAL…PERB was one of the illest/hoodest/funniest/knowledgable individuals I’ve ever met.

“It’s a shame the world has never heard his BEST MATERIAL, which was recorded with me at 560 State St. in Brooklyn during the mid 90’s. I love u Perb, & u will be missed.”

The Far Rockaway, Queens native was a former member of Raekwon’s American Cream Team but has been estranged from the crew for over a decade. Superb claimed to have “ghostwritten” Ghostface Killah’s entire 2000 solo album Supreme Clientele, something Ghostface adamantly denied.

“That’s just nonsense,” he said in a 2007 interview. “I still put mad shit out. ‘Perb [Superb] is Rae’s [Raekwon] man. He been in the studio a few times while we’re doing shit. He ain’t write shit. All ‘Perb contributed was a couple of lines that you could put in the air.

“Even if he did write a verse, he could never make an album of mine. He couldn’t make an album, you feel me? I made Supreme Clientele what it is. Those are my stories, based around what they’re based upon. It’s me. I can’t see what songs ‘Perb wrote.”

Despite Ghostface’s comments, Superb was a featured guest on Supreme Clientele on the cuts “We Made It” and “Ghost Deini.”

At this time, no cause of death has been confirmed. He was 41.

    1. RIP to that brother. I definitely believe he wrote Supreme Clientele. Ghost never rapped like that again. If you listen to Superb’s style that’s him all day. If Ghost did write Supreme Clientele, he needs to go back to that chamber, because his rhymes now are lazy and weak. We want abstract, crying Ghost, not yelling stale metaphors ghost. Peace.

      1. Ghost was doing that supreme clientele style well before supreme clientele. He started messing with it 97 on wu forever and then perfected it on Cobra Clutch, Silkworm, and Windpipe. That’s 97-98

        1. Ghostface is a Top 5 mc, but as much as I hate to say it Superb really did write for Ghost. There’s reference tracks on the net to prove it, where they spit the same bars verbatim!

          1. If that’s so, how come Ghost was already nice with his way before Superb (RIP) came in the picture. The Iron Man album, his verses on Wu-Tang Forever, “Cobra Clutch”, “Windpipe”, all has already that creative lyricism he’s perfected on “Supreme Clientèle”..

      2. Well, I want Raekwon’s voice to be loud and gruff again, not low and snoozy, but I guess we all can’t have what we want now, can we?

    2. R.I.P. to Superb. He was ill. Would love to hear those mid 90s tracks Lord Jamar mentioned. That “cant out rap me” song is the truth.

    3. Great. Now we gonna have every Kylie Jenner on Twitter all like “omg rip lord superb so sad.. i miss u 4evah” when they had noidea this person even exist before he died lol

    4. I was in jail wit ol boy, smoked and chopped it up wit em. Plenty laughs AND stories to match but at the same time he was in prison as a SEX OFFENDER. He would use his blood affiliation and his association wit Wu as a cloud of armor. I’ve also bumped into Perb on the streets high af and disoriented off sum next level drugs. Idk what led to his fall and demise but R.I.P. Perb wit tha “Russian cut VVS’s” as he would say…..
