Fokis Enlists Kurtis Blow, DMC, Kool G. Rap & More For “The Vintage Album”

Fokis has announced the release of his upcoming project The Vintage Album, due in January 2012 via Loyalty Digital Corp.

The album touts a guest roster that includes Kurtis Blow, DMC, King Sun, Sadat X, Lord Jamar, Kool G. Rap, Spoonie Gee, King Tee, MC Eiht and more. Its first single, “Show’em How to MC” featuring Grandmaster Caz and produced by Fokis’ production alter ego Fokeezy, will be available on iTunes on October 11th.

Fokis, who executive produces the album, is using the LP to pay homage to Hip Hop’s pioneers and capture a classic sound. He credits Krush Groove as its inspiration.

“Watching the film again after so many years, I realized this movie was the reason I fell in love with hip-hop to begin with. It was entertaining, enlightening and most of all fun,” says Fokis. “It is important for today’s artists and fans alike to know about their history and salute the ones that laid the foundation.”

In anticipation of the album’s release, Fokis will release a mixtape titled A Vintage State of Mind in November. He has already shot a video for the first leak, “Fly Boyz” featuring RP, which will release on October 18th.
