Fox’s hit TV show Empire is growing in popularity each week.
Once again, the Hip Hop-oriented series increased its viewership according to Variety.
Last week’s episode raked in 13.9 million viewers.
Fox estimates that since the show premiered in early January, it has been watched by 22.6 million viewers.
After its fifth episode, Empire broke a television record that stood for nearly two decades, as it became the first primetime scripted series to grow in total viewers over each of its first five telecasts since at least 1991.
More-and-more women, between the ages of 18-34, are watching the show. The series saw a 68% increase in female viewership since its premiere.
African-Americans make up about two-thirds of the population tuning in – age 2 and older. Among other primetime series across the networks, Empire joins ABC’s Scandal and How to Get Away With Murder as broadcast dramas with more than 4 in 10 viewers are black.
On social media, the show is also getting a huge boost. Empire has ousted Scandal as the TV show with the highest average number of tweets per episode with 381,770.
Empire is reportedly slated to finish as broadcast television’s no. 1 drama.

Makes sense. All the most popular shows in America are usually terribly dumbed-down and often have homosexual elements to them. These are the same people who made Kim Kardashian and Justin Biever so big.
whats wrong with homosexuality though?
Yo it really is the niggas equivalent to Glee!
Great show.
All the cast members are great actors. Starting with, Terrance Howard, Tarija OMG, etc., just great.
i tried to watch this show twice but it seemed pretty gay
I think the guy who wrote or directed it is gay and he put his shit in the show.
I bet Diddys son is wishing his daddy didn’t cockblock him from getting on this show now.
“Empire’s Ratings Surge; African Americans & Women Responsible”….hmmm….So African American Women aren’t Women? Think about it for example: “Glee’s Ratings Surge; Whites & Women Responsible”….ridiculous right???
i think it means women of all colors and africans mostly watch the show, aint no white men getting down with it
Havent seen it. Looks pretty bad. Cant stand that Tarijja woman
These shows should show the African-American community if they come together the power that they can yield in America & corporate america listening to them. White power structure cares about $
Apologizing in advance for those who might take offense, but I feel compelled to quote scripture in reply to this article: 1 Corinthians 13:10 When the perfect appears, the imperfect disappears.
