Eminem has the Midas touch when it comes to selling albums. The Detroit-bred rap god has released 10 consecutive No. 1 Billboard 200 albums over the course of his career, beginning with 2000’s The Marshall Mathers LP and including 2002’s 8 Mile: Music From & Inspired By The Motion Picture. But Shady’s hot streak could be coming to an end.
According to Hits Daily Double, Eminem’s latest release Music To Be Murdered By: Side B is predicted to move between 70,000 and 80,000 total album-equivalent album units in the first week, which would only get the project a No. 3 debut on next week’s Billboard 200 chart, behind Taylor Swift’s Evermore and Sir Paul McCartney’s McCartney III.
If those numbers hold up, it would be the first time a Shady album didn’t land in the coveted spot since 1999’s The Slim Shady LP, which debuted at No. 2. It would also mark his worst debut week by close to 200,000 EAU. Even 2017’s Revival moved 267,000 EAU in its debut week, while the original Music to Be Murdered By album moved over 279,000 EAU in its opening week alone.
But Eminem is the only MC in music history with two diamond-certified albums. The Marshall Mathers LP and 2002’s The Eminem Show were both certified diamond by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) after selling 10 million copies each.

Music To Be Murdered By: Side B was released on Thursday night (December 17) but unlike 2018’s Kamikaze, it wasn’t a complete surprise. A few days prior, Aftermath Records affiliate Dem Jointz shared an Instagram post inadvertently revealing the Side B cover art.
The deluxe edition of the project features 16 new tracks and contributions from Dr. Dre, DJ Premier, Ty Dolla $ign and more.

I’m an Em guy for sure. When Kamikazee came out I had it on replay for days straight. Matter of fact I still get replay value from it. MTBMB has multiple tracks I get replay value from. This B Side EP kind of missed the mark for me. Undeniably amazing rhymes but kind of a lack of emotion/substance or whatever that intangible is. Only tracks I repeated were Alfred’s Theme and Zeus.
The Ringer is one of my all time favorite eminem songs, but I thought this deluxe album was better than the last two. Alfred’s theme, tone dead, book of rhymes, and knat are f’ing fire!!

Agreed. I liked these songs even more than the A side. Alfred is INSANE. The word play is phenomenal on all of these tracks, and they also have catchy melodies. The rhyming isn’t too rappity rap, and the bars are digestible – not too clever to the point of going over my head. I cannot say enough good things about this release. Thanks to Em & his team for dropping this. The consistency and evolution of Marshall is really something to behold. Glad he is still part of the game, it’s great for hip hop.

I was a huge Eminem fan. From 1999 to the Bad Meets evil album with Royce. That’s where he lost me. Screaming, fast rapping constantly, CORNY CRINGEY punchlines, and the icing on the cake – HORRIBLE production. As for as the art of rhyming words – Eminem is one of the best. As far as making GOOD MUSIC – the dude is one of the worst and has been consistently for nearly a decade now. I will never understand how people enjoy this trash.

I’m a fan of Em’s music since day 1 and I never knew that he released deluxe extended versions of Relapse and MMLP2 until I read the comments so that explains it all. Deluxe editions are in no way counted as albums and everyone knows that Eminem is a top seller till now and MTBMB went platinum back in September and is actually the best selling rap album in 2020 when it comes to physical albums (real purchases not free streaming).
