Eminem To Pull A ‘Houdini’ On New Single: ‘I’m Gonna Make My Career Disappear’

Eminem has announced his new single, and it’ll apparently see him pull off an awe-inspiring magic trick.

The Detroit rap legend is preparing to release his new album The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce) this summer and will kickstart the rollout with the lead single “Houdini” this Friday (May 31).

In a video posted to Instagram on Tuesday (May 28), Eminem revealed the title and release date for the song while also sharing an outlandish video call with famed magician David Blaine.

“David, what up man? Yo listen, I need your help with something,” Em says on the call, to which Blaine replies: “Yeah, whatever you need.”

Eminem continues: “Well, first of all, you know you the greatest to ever do it, right? So, what I was wondering is like, how far can we go with this magic. Like, can we do like a stunt or something?”

“You mean something like this?” Blaine says before downing a glass of wine and eating the glass, shocking onlookers around him.

An unfazed Eminem then says: “Well, for my last trick, I’m gonna make my career disappear.”

He added in the caption: “Please do not try this at home. Or anywhere else.”

Eminem announced The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce) in April and teased a summer release.

A teaser trailer for the project dropped shortly after his appearance at the 2024 NFL Draft in his hometown of Detroit and took on the form of a true crime show.

In the clip, a reporter discusses Eminem’s controversial alter ego, Slim Shady, and says: “Through his complex and oft-criticized, tongue-twisting rhymes, the anti-hero known as Slim Shady has had no shortage of enemies.”

50 Cent also makes a cameo appearance and says: “He’s not a friend, he’s a psychopath.”

The reporter then says: “The same rude lyrics and controversial antics may have ultimately led to his demise. Join me as we recreate the events that led to the murder of Slim Shady.”

Eminem pops up at the end of the clip as a blurred talking head and says: “I knew it was only a matter of time for Slim.”

Em shared a video earlier this month teasing a May 31 release, so fans have been expecting something to arrive this week.

      1. @kev it’s a continuation of the Role Model video off the SSLP from 25 years ago. He posted the video on his social media yesterday. So according to your logic, I guess Nas was stealing from Em

      2. I’d love for Em to bite off of Nas…. perhaps he’d make a good album again then without all the weird voices and pretending to be some sort of demon. It would be more refreshing to hear his point of view as a dad who just walked both his daughters down the aisle recently instead of ‘Slim Shady antics part 205″ or whatever the fuck this is supposed to be.

      3. @R.pgh There is an album where Em copies Nas style. It’s called Infinite and it’s by far his least popular album. Nas is a great artist but he doesn’t sell sh!t, Em does.

      4. Actually the Infinite album was made before Eminem garnered mainstream attention and signed to Interscope. All sales talk at this point is irrelevant, the main focus should be on what he actually does on this new album in terms of artistry.

      5. @Reality Lol I’m.aware. But if Em continued to rap the way he did on Infinite, we wouldn’t be talking about him today. And music is subjective, everyone has their preferences. Streams are more important than sales today and Eminem is dominant in both.. that means more people like his music than they do Nas.. truth hurts sometimes

      6. Ok, if you want to base it off sales if Eminem dropped an album like Infinite today it would sell because he has a loyal and large fanbase. As far artistry you missed the point I was making, sales aside, at this point I’m more interested in what Em is gonna say. He doesn’t have to say it like Nas or anybody else. I actually want to see how this album pans out in terms of concept, lyrics l, and so forth. Pardon for not explaining it in detail before, things go over people’s heads because they base it off something else.

      7. uh, yeah, thanks I’m aware of his pre stardom days. My point was Nas is still making music that sounds good and coming through the eyes of a 50 year old hip hop vet, talking about mature shit. Em still relies on gimmicks and ‘alter egos’ and whatever weird shit this david blaine ad is supposed to be.

Yes, Em sells, not because he puts out quality music, but mainly because his fanbase will praise him if he farts into the microphone.

      8. Like I said, music is subjective. Everyone has their own taste. And many more people listen to Em’s music than they do Nas. That’s NOT subjective, that’s a fact. And like I said, the truth hurts people sometimes, like it is with you two now

      9. It’s painfully obvious that you need to work on your comprehension skills. Like I said, things went over your head because you’re failing to understand something very simple and got defensive. I agreed with you and made some points myself in regards to looking forward to listening to Em’s album and you got your panties in a bunch, but hey truth hurts.

    1. I remember thinking how Em fans were annoying ah back in the day that kind of turned me off his music. But now I really appreciate them after seeing how delusional and psychotic Drake and Kendrick fans are. Looking forward to this offering.

    2. Em tries so hard to be something he’s not. dude has had more plastic surgery on his face than Michael Jackson.
