Eminem has shared a new teaser for his upcoming album The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce) — and it appears the rap legend has a trick up his sleeve.
Em posted a video on Instagram on Monday (May 20) of a text message from “All Contacts,” the profile picture of which was an emoji of a rabbit wearing a top hat.
The message simply reads: “And for my last trick!” before it vanishes.
Most importantly, the time and date of the message is 12:00 a.m. on May 31, suggesting fans can expect something big on that date.
Given that Eminem previously said The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce) would arrive this summer, it’s likely he’ll be releasing the first single from the album.
Em has also changed his avatar across his social media accounts to the image of the rabbit wearing a top hat.
Eminem announced the album last month with a video teaser that took the form of a true crime documentary.
In the clip, a reporter is discussing the rapper’s controversial alter ego and says: “Through his complex and oft-criticized, tongue-twisting rhymes, the anti-hero known as Slim Shady has had no shortage of enemies.”
50 Cent also makes a cameo appearance and says: “He’s not a friend, he’s a psychopath.”
The reporter then continues: “The same rude lyrics and controversial antics may have ultimately led to his demise. Join me as we recreate the events that led to the murder of Slim Shady.”
Eminem himself pops up at the end of the clip as a blurred talking head and says: “I knew it was only a matter of time for Slim.”
Dr. Dre previously confirmed that Em would be dropping an album in 2024 during an interview with Jimmy Kimmel in March.
“Let me explain something to you right now: Eminem is working on his own album which is coming out this year,” the legendary producer said. “And I actually talked to him and he said it was okay for me to make that announcement right here on this show.
“So he has an album coming out, I’ve got songs on it and it’s fire. I’m actually gonna hear the entire album for the first time tomorrow.”
Fans are also expecting 50 Cent to appear on The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce) — which would be his first on an Eminem album since 2009’s Relapse — due to him being featured in the rollout.
Em hasn’t had a good album in decades, and this is apparently an album built around the alter ego of his that stopped being funny in the late 90’s. I’m sure his fanbase will eat it up, but I’d bet it’ll be wildly mediocre as his last several were.
Cool story bro
“I’m sure his fanbase will eat it up”
Lol you sound like you know NOTHING about hip hop 💀
@justin what does knowing about hiphop have to do with liking or disliking someone’s music? It’s like telling someone who doesn’t like the same food as you that they’re ignorant. We all like different things. Most people I know agree Em was far superior before he quit the drugs, and nobody likes anything he’s done since. Can’t say I’ve liked JayZ or many others since that time period either. Artists don’t stay in their prime forever.
B-Rabbit back in full effect
