Eminem was apparently feeling a bit nostalgic over the weekend. The celebrated MC hopped on Twitter to reminisce about 2013’s Marshall Mathers LP 2, which crossed the five-year milestone on on Monday (November 5).
“It’s been 5 whole years since myself, @RickRubin and @drdre created this ‘Monster’! #MMLP2,” he wrote.
The Marshall Mathers LP 2 served as Em’s eighth studio album and was intended to act as the sequel to the 2000 original. Featuring Skylar Grey, Rihanna, Nate Ruess and then-lesser known Kendrick Lamar, the project debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and marked the second-best selling album sales of 2013.
It also took home the honor for Best Rap Album at the 57th Annual Grammy Awards.
Em’s tenth and most recent album, Kamikaze, also debuted at No. 1 upon its release and reeled in over 434,000 total album equivalent units in its first week.
In February, the RIAA named Slim Shady its second-most successful singles artist of all time.
Here he is celebrating it…I’ve all but erased it from my mind, and it wasnt an effort.
Nah, this was a thing. Couple singles that went pop and a few bangers. It was almost a double album of songs all mashed up together. I bumped this for a few months.
mmlp2 > revival, recovery, refill
Dr Dre contributed little more then his name and label name to this project. The practice of throwing Dres name on a project, while effective, is getting old considering he hasnt made a beat in years. The Game, Kendrick, Eminem and now Anderson Paak all do this every time to get fans to think they are gonna hear some new Dre production only to find he mixed a few tracks, at best, and more likely simply listened to it and gave it his “stamp” of approval.
Why did’t Eminem & 50 Cents do a worldwide Hip Hop tour like Dr. Dre Up And Smoke Tour ? Will Rick Ruben join the Crush Groove Play on Boardway New York campaign that would be great for the Hip Hop Culture and the Music Industry I would love to see Rick would pick to play the Fat Boys !!! Song of the Day Kurtis Blow Walker ( These Are Breaks ) I don’t know why I feels ( Black Crow ) Kate Hudson would think it’s a god ideal .
My boy lil boenuuh said dude sucks so bad and if you thank he is good rapper thin your stupid as he is dum ases Eminem’s sucks so bad not even the best rapper on the bottom of the list so shit up and take this L. Bitchse
It’s called grammar do the civilized world a favour and stop abusing it.
and then-lesser known Kendrick Lamar…Kendrick had already blown the F up, this site ran by fools. Also Em rapped his a s s off on this album PEACE
All facts
The scene in the picture above, from the music video has strong symbolism: on the right side of confused-clueless-lookin-whitey we see his superior master race: the j-word, his handler.
he is an open satanist and the center of a lot of occultic bullshit in the media
This album did not live up to the hype. Of you include the deluxe bonus disc its still only 9-10 good songs tops!
I think the deluxe version of this album is on par with Slim Shady LP.
I think you are wrong on that one, tough guy.
Rick Rubin got that hook nose alright.. dude worships in the s.yna.gogue of satan
“This Monster”? HA HA HA! does ANYONE listen to this now? Show of hands.
This Monster? HA HA! This album was a 1 out of 10.
It was a play on words from the Rhianna single moron
Underrated album. His flow and wordplay was off the charts on this release. I think the reason people were put off was becausw they couldn’t keep up with the pace of his rhyming. The beats really grow on you after a few listens as well and they give the album a nice old school vibe. It also has replay value, there’s still lines where I only just caught the double entendre or pun. The only real misstep was calling it Marshal Mathers LP 2 because it implied that the album was going to be a lot harder than it was and it soured expectations. Mid tier album in his overall discography for me.
UNDERRATED ALBUM. IT GOT A BIT TOO MUCH UNWARRANTED HATE.
MMLP2 was his best project since Eminem Show. And if you disagree, you must be some homo ass Drake fan. Eminem could fart in the shower and it would automatically be better than any mumble rapper. Period. End of discussion #FACTS
rick rubin one of the most proud satanists and an overrated producer
MMLP2 was his best project since Eminem Show. Facts. And if you disagree, you must be a Drake fan. Shame on you. Eminem could fart in the shower and it would be better than any mumble rapper. Also facts
Listening to this album a couple times when it came out, didn’t think it was that good and haven’t heard it since. My favorite songs on it were love game, rap god, and rhyme or reason. Maybe I gotta listen to it again But I would say mmlp, sslp, eminem show, encore, and even recovery is better.
Definitely underrated. IMO it’s his fourth best album, after Relapse, MMLP & The Eminem Show.
I’m a fan but this album is one of his worst in my opinion… Eminem went downhill once he started working with Rick Rubin and I’m glad this ended after Revival and now we got that fire album Kamikaze…
