Eminem continues to make history as one of the world’s biggest artists. On Tuesday (March 8), the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) announced 73.5 million new Gold & Platinum Program certifications for the 49-year-old “rap god.”
According to a press release, Slim Shady is now the No. 1 awarded musician for singles in the program’s history and one of only seven artists in any genre or era with three or more Diamond Album Awards.
Eminem’s combined six RIAA Diamond awards add to his already accomplished career. With the new 73.5 million award units, his RIAA Award career total comes to 227.5 million (166 million single certifications and 61.5 million album certifications).
Eminem’s 2005 album Curtain Call: The Hits earned its diamond certification on Tuesday, marking his third album to receive the rare distinction. The album was also declared the longest-running rap LP in the history of the Billboard 200 in August 2017.
Meanwhile, 2002’s The Eminem Show is certified 12x-platinum, while The Marshall Mathers LP (2000) sits at 11x-platinum. All of Shady’s other studio albums, including 2011’s Recovery, are certified platinum or gold.
As for Eminem’s singles, both “Lose Yourself” from the 2002 8 Mile soundtrack and “Love The Way You Lie” with Rihanna have 13x-platinum certifications. Overall, Shady has collected six new platinum singles and 21 gold singles.
“These awards recognize Eminem’s unflinching commitment to his craft and the enduring connection he has forged with fans over the last 20 years,” RIAA Chairman & CEO Mitch Glazier says. “With today’s announcement, Eminem becomes the top certified singles artist in our program’s history and adds a rare third Diamond Album to his many creative accomplishments. Congratulations to Eminem and his entire label team who have set the bar higher than ever!”
Vice Chairman, Interscope Geffen A&M Steve Berman adds, “Interscope joins Aftermath in congratulating Marshall, Paul, and the entire Shady team on this remarkable achievement. It has been an honor to be part of one of the greatest journeys in the history of recorded music. The most beautiful part of this is it feels like the journey has just begun.”
Damn! he nice
My favorite are people who act like this dude isn’t a beast on the mic and with a pen. If a DJ spins instrumentals, and you can’t spit… Go fuck yourself. That’s 99% of rappers nowadays.
Diamond is ten million. So if Curtain Call just went diamond today, how is it his most successful album, behind an album that sold 12 million and one that sold 11 million?
curtain call is no album, u dumb fuck
when did we start equating sales with skills?
Great skills + great fans = great sales.
Considering he bodied Jay-Z on Renegade, there no question he’s got skills
Considering he bodied Jay-Z on Renegade..there’s no question he’s got skills
Renegade
The only white guy that makes black people cry with their hip hop
Don’t start, unless you’re just another low-effort troll.
The Elvis of hip hop ??
That’s one helluva portfolio! Give that man his props! Jus 1 of his albums can outsell your whole discography ??
Ohhh wait?! Wait a minute! I thought nobody listened to Eminem tho?!
Have him come to west Oakland get knocked out by jr smith he a real one seen bodies something the white man cant say
I really don’t know why the haters race to the articles of Em. You don’t like him…fine. Now GTFO of here
My number please guys can you call me when you get this i need your help the is the number 0732439597
Hate to be that guy but Eminem doesn’t have gold album
Infinite is gold digital.
One of the greatest ever, and most successful ever emcees to ever do it. Man
Em’s music comes off as souless. It’s not a race or skill issue. Play a Mac Miller or Aesop Rock track for technical white rappers that can elevate it to good listening experience.
90% of his sales is cause he’s white, white privilege
90% of your anger comes from not getting pussy. kill yourself
Yeah bc u bums are too broke and selfish to buy ur legends. We support ours but ud rather cry about us supporting ours than supporting your own. Consistent jealousy
He is the only rapper of millions of white rappers that sells records, all the other rapper that sell are black.
All those plaques n he still ain’t streaming n viewership records like King Tekashi. Sound lyk he got more work to do.
LOL, Em keep dicking them haters HARD! CONGRATULATIONS SHADY!
Most rappers get their sales from….white people.
If it’s white privilege, how come Jack Harlow or MGK, Bubba Sparks, aren’t doing Eminem’s numbers?
It’s called jealousy whenever a white person does something great, black Americans get jealous over that attention and actively search for ways to tear him down instead of elevating themselves. Jealously is a sickness.
it’s easy to say that but in reality Eminem just isn’t our champion, no matter how many records he sells. no one is “jealous” of his success, we actually embraced Eminem before white America which made him a superstar. white Americans are just notoriously known for controlling the narratives of other cultures and get butt hurt when their opinion is challenged.
GOAT things as always
I think a Griselda produced album with Em using the voice tone of Infinite could be dope. Him rapping like Tech over his own beats is trash.
If he wasn’t white…well you know the rest. Put an asterisk next to this stat.
Update 2Pac’s numbers and I’m sure Pac would be #1
Undate The game numbers? I’m sure he be #1!
