Eminem Announces 20th Anniversary Expanded Edition Of ‘The Eminem Show’

The Eminem Show was released in 2002 and has since been certified 12x-platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). On Tuesday (May 24), Eminem announced an expanded version of the Billboard 200 juggernaut will arrive on Thursday (May 26) in celebration of the album’s 20th anniversary.

“‘Well, if you want Shady, this is what I’ll give ya,'” the caption reads. “#The EminemShow 20th Anniversary Expanded Edition drops Thursday 5/26.”

The post came with a 60-second clip of album highlights, including “Without Me,” “White America,” “Sing For The Moment,” “Superman” and “Cleanin’ Out My Closet.”

The Eminem Show sold over 284,000 copies on its first day, instantly becoming the biggest selling album of 2002. Now with over 27 million sold, it’s one of the best-selling albums of all time and second best-selling album of the 21st century. At the 2003 Grammy Awards, it was nominated for Album of the Year and won Best Rap Album, while “Without Me” won Best Music Video.

The album also remained at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 for six consecutive weeks and sold 1.2 million copies in its second week. Of course, Eminem has become one of the most successful artists in music history. His latest project, Music To Be Murdered By: Side B, arrived in December 2020, serving as the deluxe edition of its original, Music To Be Murdered By.

Eminem made a rare cameo appearance on Saturday Night Live over the weekend as the cast said goodbye to longtime cast member Pete Davidson. For one Davidson’s last sketches, he again rapped along to an Eminem beat, this time to Dr. Dre’s 2001 single “Forgot About Dre.” Toward the end of the song — appropriately titled “Forgot About Lorne [Michaels]” — the music suddenly comes to a halt and Eminem shows up with a question for Davidson.

“Pete, what you doing, man?” he asks. “It’s another parody, another tribute or something? I would just stop. Yeah, they all suck,” to which Davidson replies, “Do you not like the videos or you just don’t like me?” Shady responds, “Just please stop. It’s really bad.” But Davidson claims, “Honestly, we just do these ’cause we love you so much Marshall. They’re like a tribute.” Eminem wasn’t having it though and demands, “Pete, don’t fucking do it again.” Watch it below.

        1. Oh yeah. How could I forget the hipho classics such as “Not Afraid”, “Space Bound”, or “Love The Way You Lie”. That was such a pop rap album. I’m not hating. It’s just that after Eminem show, Em never qas able to replicate the sound and style that made him famous. Had he started with the albums you mention, he would NEVER be put in GOAT convo… it’s his early work that was and still is crazy talent.

          1. So because it had some songs ready for radio it was a pop album? Must be one of those fools that judge albums according to radio singles, probably never even heard the actual album

          2. Not Afraid one of the most lyrical singles to ever exist… Recovery was a GREAT album. DID you even listen to the album, pop album. Smh. Like most Em haters, you guys say the same thing and haven’t listened to Em. Dummies say all he talks about is killing his mom,yea … Last time he mentioned that was maybe a decade ago but. Okay.

            1. I’ve listened to the album dozens of times over the years. I never liked the sound. I like his sound from around 1996 to 2006. Infinite to Eminem Show. After that, very few things I think are really stellar. Ya know, not everyone who dislikes what eminem morphed into is a hater. We just don’t like the change in sound. I feel the same way about Kendricks last two albums. JayZ the past 15 years. Kanye for the most part. Dr dre hasn’t had great music in decades. Dmx, rest in peace, but hadn’t had good music in over a decade. Though I liked some of Undisputed from 2012. I’m not a hater. I’m just someone who has a certain taste for more raw hiphop. Less over produced sounds, more raw dope beats with rhymes spit over them. But I also don’t like fast rappers, aside from Big Pun, and a tiny bit of Ra The Rugged Man. It’s just my tastes. I’m not a hater.

      1. If you don’t think MTBMB was dope, either you don’t like Em or …. You don’t like Em. His lyrics and music was better than most of this album. Eminem Show one of my favorite albums ever but the dude has grown and got wayyyyy sicker on the mic since then. Kamikaze was a lyrical masterpiece, basically dissing everyone and that wasn’t to your liking either huh… Lol. Crazy

Also, all Em fans not delusional. Relapse and Revival was ass.

        1. I agree! Eminem is better today than he was 15 years ago, because he raps super duper fast, and has amazing lines like “that’s an awfully hot coffee pot, should I drop it on Trump, probably not”. LYRICAL GENIUS! No lol. Eminem lyric wise isn’t better today. He’s just faster with it, but way worse with telling stories than he used to be. He has nothing special to say anymore.

    1. How is this man not the first hiphop billionaire? I know he got sued for few million because of his big mouth, but how do you do these numbers and several world and American tours and the 8mile movie and soundtrack and features and royalties and the man didn’t make a billion dollars first??? Don’t make no sense!

      1. because you need different revenue streams, not just music. Em only makes money of his music and Shade 45 is the only other real legit business he has. He could’ve used his stardom and leverage to try out different opportunities but for some reason, he never was interested in anything else apart from rapping

    2. Most sales. Most hits. Most classics. The best to ever do it. White or black. Killed JayZ on his own album. Brought the world 50. Lyrically untouchable.

      1. I like how you guys will be the same people that will say this sort of thing, all full of praise and stuff and that white and black don’t matter after all, but then when he says something political or praises something you guys disagree with, you will also be the very first people to trash talk him, saying he’s washed up and is a tryhard and stuff. No disrespect towards Eminem, but his followers and fanbase are some of the most bipolar and nonsensical type of people around, and he even acknowledged and admitted this numerous times. I actually feel sorry for him that despite how much of a successful and influential person that he is, he has so many people like you guys behaving in such a ridiculous manner.
