Elzhi Discusses Possible Full-Length Collaboration With Royce Da 5’9

Elzhi recently collaborated with Royce Da 5’9 on his remake of “Life’s a Bitch,” a cut off Elmatic, his tribute to Nas’ Illmatic. But their work together might take on a lengthier form. Speaking with The Well Versed, the former Slum Village MC explained that they talked about working together again, though nothing has been set in stone.

“It’s not farfetched. I just did a show here recently, he came out and showed some love,” he said. “He did ‘Life’s a Bitch’ with me. After the show was over, we had a conversation. We talked about the future briefly about us coming together and doing tracks. We talked about it before, but you know, life gets in the way. He got with Slaughterhouse, I had my own troubles, I’m starting to establish myself as a solo artist, a lot of stuff got in the way, but we definitely have a mutual respect for each other’s craft, so it’s not farfetched, it can happen anytime soon.”

He also addressed Sean Price’s recent comments that he wouldn’t collaborate with Elzhi because he considered him a “super emcee” and didn’t want to dead his buzz.

“I heard about that…man, I feel honored that that brother would even say that about me, because I came up listening to Boot Camp Clik and Heltah Skeltah. I’m a big fan of his music, as well as the music he’s doing now. He’s definitely got bars and I know he knows that. I definitely like to hear the things that come out his mouth when he’s creating, so that’s an honor.”

    1. this is the collab album id be mos interested in hearing ive not been into all these other one’s lately but both Royce and Elzhi are dope especially when together, they have that ability to bring out each others best barrs so this needs to happen

looking forward to Elz upcomin EP n his next full length album too, along with The Roots new album those are the albums im most anticipatin

oh and my man Torae’s album which id love to see an Elzhi feature on that joint too

      1. Premo is beyond overrated they should have Black Milk produce it all n dig in the crates for some unused J.Dilla beats

other than that hollah at Madlib, Jake One, 14KT, Stoupe, Sicknature & The Snowgoons, Marco Polo, Nottz etc but obviously we all know Royce is all about the mainstream these days so expect bullshit like Eminem, Boi 1da, Lex Luger on the production

also only feature should be Black Milk, it should be about the cats who stood by each others music the last decade not muthafuckas who have only jus started showin these cats support

    2. That would be a classic album hands fucking down. Exactly what Hip Hop needs. That Sean Price comment was ill too, paying homage to one of the best (if not the best ) in the game.

    3. Get Black Milk on the boards and you could have a classic. Course artists are always saying their going to do collabos and then nothing happens. We’ll see I guess.

    4. No Elzhi You Need To do an Album With Phonte from little brother and casual from heiro with madlib and 9th wonder and maybe a dilla joint in there yea royce is okay at best but elzhi is better sorry.

      1. My thoughts exactly. Royce is average. I know for sure I’ll be fast forwarding through his parts like his awful life’s a bitch appearance in eLmatic.

    5. MAKE IT A WHOLE DETROIT ALBUM GET ALL THEM NIGGAS ON THERE… EL, MILK, ROYCE, EM, OBIE, SIMPSON, MR PORTER

    6. Haven’t heard Skyzoo 4 awhile, that’d be great. But yeah, there have been alotta collabo’s this year and i would rather see him do one with phonte and 9th wonder.

      1. Eh, and other producers too. Blacks dope, but the Randon Axe album wasn’t all that great. Had a few bangers though.

    7. Now that’s the collaboration Royce needs…..not making corny pop tracks with Eminem’s washed up ass

      1. did u even listen to the EP? what the fk was POP about welcome to hell, above the law, fast lane, im on everything, loud noises.. hell everything except lighters.. which was royce’s idea to try and see if it could connect with a mainstream audience.. think before you speak

      2. yes I did listen to the EP, and practically all of the songs sounded pop, and had club beats.

      3. BME was average at best Em is beyond garbage now n has been since his 3rd album but now he’s jus painful to listen to do is jus wack these days

      4. go on name the songs that had pop beats? like i said, only lighters.. welcome to hell was produced by HAVOC.. and a couple of joints by mr. porter, they dont make pop beats fool!

      1. Royce ain’t completely wack he’s corny though like a muthafugga he says some off the wall what you taumbout type shit always especially on motown 25 elzhi murked that song and here comes royce ole im sick of how me is face azz

      2. ya’ll are crazy.. street hop is dope.. not as good as death is certain, but better than rock city and independants day.. go bump “warriors”, “gun harmonizers” “part of me”, “shake this’, “something to ride 2”, “dinner time”, hood love.. soldier.. and tell me that aint fkn DOPE

      1. Sorry dude, the only epic Bad Meets Evil joints are early records like Scary Movies. eL would be better off doin’ a collabo LP with Oh No, John Robinson or Evidence. I’d still cop this joint as I’m an eL fan, but more promisin’ upcomin’ duo projects I’m eagerly awaitin’ are Doom/Ghost, Necro/G. Rap and Ill Bill & Sean Price.

    8. smh at the royce doubters here..ill admit elzhi is in his own league.. but how can ya’ll hate on 2 different, but dope rappers doin an album together? royce is mad under-rated and was jus “puffin crazy” on motown 25, so dont judge him just on that, this shit would be insane
