DX News Bits: Jay-Z, T.I.

After announcing his upcoming album, King Uncaged will be released on August 24, T.I. gave Rolling Stone an exclusive idea of what to expect on his sixth full-length album.

“This is the most significant return from incarceration that the game has had since then,” T.I. says in reference to 2Pac’s epic 1996 double disc, All Eyez On Me. “Just given the enormous success of that project, everyone’s expecting the same results. I just want to meet the expectations, if not surpass them.”

Tip went on to explain that while his content may be aggressive, he will refrain from talking about guns. T.I. added that King Uncaged will be the end of a trilogy which began with T.I. Vs. Tip and included 2009’s Paper Trail. The full interview, which includes the producers scheduled to appear on the album is available at RollingStone.com.

Jay-Z will perform on NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” for the second time on May 8. The Mother’s Day episode will be hosted by Betty White and also includes appearances by SNL mainstays Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Molly Shannon, Maya Rudolph, Ana Gasteyer and Rachel Dratch. Jay-Z previously appeared on Saturday Night Live in 2002 with Memphis Bleek and Beanie Sigel.

    1. Wow…I’m a TIP fan but thats a big statement to make. His “I’m Back” single is bangin’ hard tho. If I go off that, I think the album will go hard(no viagra). THE KING’S BACK…U DON’T LIKE IT U BETTER LEAN BACK!!!

    2. As 4 Jay, U already know thats big homie. He still runnin this rap sh*t…WHAT MORE CAN I SAY?(No Song)

    3. Tip is real corny. “Significant return since incarceration” – that’s some corny ass shit to say and point out. And this trilogy thing is played already… carter 3 bluprint 3 rick ross s 3rd album and now tips trilogy…. what’s the point of that? I bet drake wishes he was working on his 3rd album. Commercial rappers being very corny once again

      1. trilogy?? where were the first two installments you fuckin retard.. usually dont comment on others stupidity, but dude is fuckin slow

    4. T.I. is a dumbass. wtf is he talking about? First of all, his new album WILL NOT even be in the same stratosphere as All Eyez On Me. Secondly, “the most significant return from incarceration” since Pac’s will be Lil Wayne’s return. I’m no Lil Wayne fan by any means, but its the truth. Once he’s released, niggas will be all over his dick for Carter IV (including 70% of the people on this site).

      1. The most significant thing that TIP has to report from his stay in the Belly’s beast is his ripped asshole. Dont ever put PAC in the same sentence as yourself hommie, you will never come close.

    5. way to much for TI…i like his music, but he is full of shit…he doesnt come close to PAC…as for Jay doing saturday night live, well good for him

    6. …and why did he become relevant?…exactly why all these other “corny rappers” became relevant…no one’s really doing their homework…sure sure, it’s all about getting the money now…hell, i’ll quote 2Pac…”sucka for love”… old heads will relate to what I’m getting at….

    7. Either you guys fucked up and u mean Jay-Z will be performing or dude is co-hosting SNL with Betty White ahahaha

      1. I came across an online community for individual seeking interracial love. It is ^***=w~w~w~h~o~t~b~l~a~c~k~w~h~i~t~e.(C/-O/-M=)^^^^All singles there are seeking interracial relationships. Interracial is not a problem there, but a great merit to cherish!

    8. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA…

      Nigga thinks he’s Pac now?
He must have got it rough in jail,
      senseless.

    9. He must be smokin crack and not sellin it… DAMN. He gone keep thinkin that he the new Pac til he get shot… and then again. I listen to Pac monthly; T.I aint got 2 songs in my collection. EPIC FAIL jester of the South.

    10. On the real.. T.I. is my favorite current rapper. And 2pac is my favorite rapper of ALL TIME. But for TIP to say he might make a better album than All Eyez On Me, is insane.. Get out of here with that shit.

It should be a rule that all these industry rappers have to listen to “What’s Hardcore” by K’naan before they put out an album. I’m not even kidding, it should be rap’s golden rule. And if you haven’t heard it yet, you need to.

    12. Ya niggas need to learn how to read an article. This nigga never compared himself to Tupac. He compared himself to the similar circumstances of getting out of jail and being expected to spit some piff.

      SMFH
      STAY IN SCHOOL FOLKS!!!!

    13. Though Im a fan I gotta point out thats a bold thing of him to say. I understand he not comparing himself to Pac.. but damn.. I hope the album is tough cause he most definitely gonna hafta back that statement up.

    16. Aíght, I’ve seen enough of these bullshit comments now. Every damn fool that continues to post comments hating on T.I. after reading this post is officially a bitch. Period. Before I start, I’d like to say this: I have All Eyez On Me in my collection, along with Me Against The World and 2Pacalypse Now (and yes, I know there are others by him but these are the ones I have and appreciate). I Also have T.I.’s albums dating back to I’m Serious and Trap Muzik. Have any of you actually listened to his albums stretching from 2001 ’till now? Have any of y’all actually, and I mean ACTUALLY listened to what the man says in his music? What he tries to bring to the table and chronicle? I’m guessing no. You should take that attention you give to Pac’s music and give it to listening properly to some of Tip’s music for a bit – then see what you think. Pac was good, but y’all are acting like he’s God – ain’t no man that good. Tip is good too. I’m not doubting that Pac was better, but they just have a completely different style of music to bring to the table, ain’t no comparing that. Stop fucking around for a moment and you might notice that.
