DX News Bits: David Banner, Soulja Boy, Red Cafe & Gunplay

Producer/rapper David Banner has yet again put his production talents to use for a project involving a major company. Banner has teamed up with Mercedes-Benz to produce the track “Benz” which features singers Estelle and Daley.

The Mississippi-born artist spoke briefly on the project, referring to it as “something special.”

“That’s why they call it soul music, you can’t put an equation to what we just did…When we first put it together and listened to it, it was something special,” Banner explained.

“Benz” will be released on Tuesday, April 19 via iTunes and on that same day Banner, Estelle, and Daley will debut the song during a performance in Shanghai, China for the 2011 Shanghai Auto Show.

Aside from Banner’s “Benz” release next week another Hip Hop artist will also be releasing a new project that week and that artist is Atlanta rapper Soulja Boy who will drop his latest mixtape, Juice on April 20.

Soulja Boy partnered with both DJ Scream and DJ Swamp Izzo for the project which is described as one of his best works to date.

“Soulja Boy’s new mixtape Juice is his best mixtape work to date,” said DJ Scream in a statement. “It still has that young vibrant energy that his music has always possessed, but in a more mature fashion.”

Juice will serve as the third project Soulja Boy and DJ Scream have worked on together.

In other Hip Hop news, the list of rappers taking place in the first ever Urban Wrestling Federation (UWF) event is continuing to grow with Red Cafe being the latest artist to sign on.

Those already set to take place in the UWF’s first event include Gorilla Zoe, Uncle Murda, Brisco, Gunplay, and more.

The first UWF event is scheduled to take place in June 2011; the event will also air on Pay-Per-View.

    1. DJ Scream lost some cool points for hosting a Soulja Boy mixtape. But money makes people do strange things always.
