Drake’s 2019 Grammys Acceptance Speech Gets Cut Short & Twitter Erupts

Drake was on hand for the 61st Annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles on February 10 where he was nominated for seven awards.

During the ceremony, he picked up a gilded gramophone in the Best Rap Song category for “God’s Plan.” As he was delivering his acceptance speech, he was noticeably cut short after insinuating awards don’t carry much value.

“We play an opinion based sport, not a factual based sport,” he said. “You already won if you have people singing your songs word for word, if they’re singing in your hometown. You’re already winning, you don’t need this right here.”

Before he could finish — boom. Cut to commercial.

Naturally, Twitter was quick to point out the snafu.

Check out some of the best reactions below.

      1. Nah, he didn’t. He said “But” that’s what made it sound bad to people. They tried to cut him off before the but and if they would have, it would’ve been smooth. But cutting him off right there made it sound awkward.

    1. Test Joke – My Ex be on that Bee Hive ish If you asking your self which one Lil Kim or Beyonce both Lil Kim because she got the whole Lil Kim Get Money verse tattooed on her back and Beyonce because she got me singing Me , Myself , I now check me and my Ex had this terrible break up to the point she had me set up at the Soup Kitchen for Food Stamp fraud to make sure I don’t eat !

    2. Everyone got cut short. No agenda. He took a long ass pause as he was being played out. Stop making it something it is not. Everyone from Drake to the random white girl who won to whoever, if there was a pause later in the speech and it was kinda awkward you got cut off.

    3. lol pusha really made the push for a grammy this year with t shirts and campaigns etc. That screen shot of mans fuming while drake is on stage is too funny. Push did it to himself though “best believe your demise will be televised” here come the memes

Plus opinion based sport? this is hip hop and is about lyrics and creativity and drake has non of them. We know is trash and it will be trash even if 12 year old girls are singing those shitty songs
