Drake & Rihanna Celebrated With New Madame Tussauds Wax Figures

Drake and Rihanna have once again been immortalized as wax figures, with each artist being added to themed exhibits at Madame Tussauds museums.

Drizzy’s second figurine was unveiled on Wednesday (February 8) as part of the Impossible Festival music zone at the international chain’s original location in London. The statue captures the rapper’s look from the 2021 Wireless Festival in the British capital, where he joined Future for a surprise appearance.

In addition to Drake’s facial hair, tattoos and Certified Lover Boy-era heart-shaped lineup, the figure sports a matching camouflage shirt and pants combo, a green cropped puffer jacket and white-on-white Air Force 1’s. According to a press release, the outfit is complimented by replica Cartier and Van Cleef jewelry.

“Drake has shown his love for London on numerous occasions with his surprise appearance at Wireless Festival being just one example of this,” said Madame Tussauds London’s general manager Tim Waters. “With reports that he’s soon to call London home, we wanted to make sure we were able to give him a warm welcome to our streets and show that the love is reciprocated the only way we know how by immortalizing him in our famous attraction.”

The Canadian star’s first wax figure — which captures his “Hot Line Bling” video set and look — has been on display at the Las Vegas museum since 2019.

Rihanna, who was most recently infamously added to the London museum in 2021, has now been honored with a third figurine at Madame Tussauds New York, which also debuted on Wednesday. The likeness is an homage to RiRi’s 2018 Met Gala look, which was based around the theme “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion And The Catholic Imagination.”

The tribute dons a recreated version of the “Lift Me Up” singer’s Maison Margiela costume: a beaded white mini dress and matching robe, which she paired with a papal bishop’s hat and bejeweled crucifix. On the statue, which has been placed in the Glow Gala Room, the designer outfit also features several LED lights.

Later this year, Rihanna’s New York wax figure will be followed by a Madame Tussauds Orlando commemorating her highly-anticipated return to the stage for the first time in six years during the Super Bowl LVII Halftime Show on Sunday (February 12).

“Rihanna is sure to make history with her upcoming live show this Sunday so the timing is perfect for us to reveal her new figure exclusively at Madame Tussauds New York where fans can admire and pose with the icon,” said Madame Tussauds New York general manager Joerg Hanel.

During an Apple Music press conference on Thursday (February 9), the singer revealed that her Super Bowl set will be dedicated to the music that made her “the wealthiest female musician in the world” (per Forbes) in 2021.

The 13-minute set — which will be broadcast by Fox during the NFL championship matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles — will be “a celebration of my catalogue in the best way we could have put it together,” Rihanna declared during the press conference.

“You only have 13 minutes, that’s the challenge, so you’re trying to cram 17 years of work into 13 minutes,” she explained.  “So it’s difficult. You know, some songs we have to lose because of that, and that’s gonna be okay. But I think we did a pretty good job of narrowing it down.”

Prior to the press conference, very little was known about what the Fenty Beauty mogul had planned for the Super Bowl, other than reports that JAY-Z and his team at Roc Nation would be involved with the high-profile production.

While chatting with Apple Music, Rihanna also offered some insight into the music she intends to deliver following her appearance at the Big Game, sharing that her main priority right now is “to have fun.”

“Musically, I’m feeling open,” Rihanna said. “I’m feeling open to exploring, discovering, creating, things that are new, things that are different, things that are off, weird, might not ever make sense to my fans, you know, the people that know the music that I put out. I just want to play. I want to have fun. I want to have fun with music.”

Though it’s unclear how long after the highly anticipated performance fans will have to wait for new music by Rihanna, she is reportedly working on a documentary about the performance, a music insider told The Sun in November.

The source added that Rih signed “a huge deal with Apple” for the documentary to appear on Apple TV+, but nothing has been confirmed by her camp just yet.
