Drake opened up for Lil Wayne in Toronto this week as part of his Welcome to Tha Carter Tour.
Weezy performed at HISTORY, the 2,500 capacity venue Drizzy opened in 2021, on Wednesday (April 12), where he surprised fans by bringing out his Young Money protégé and hometown hero.

During his impromptu opening set, Drake performed “Marvins Room,” “Jungle,” “Know Yourself,” “Rich Flex,” “Sicko Mode,” “Feel No Ways” and “Nonstop,” among other songs. A clip posted online also saw Drizzy calling Lil Wayne “the greatest rapper to ever do this shit.”
“I’m not gonna be too long-winded,” he told the crowd. “I know I like to go into these emotional speeches, and I’m sure this man has heard it all.

“But I just wanna say, you are in the presence, literally — and I’m not talking about myself, by the way — you are in the building, in the presence of the greatest rapper to ever do this shit. I promise you.”
Drake later joined Lil Wayne during his headlining set to help him perform “HYFR (Hell Ya Fucking Right)” and “The Motto.”

Lil Wayne previously brought out Drake during his set at Lil Weezyana Fest in New Orleans last October, where they performed songs such as “She Will,” “The Motto,” “In My Feelings,” “God’s Plan,” “Nonstop,” “Jimmy Cooks” and “Knife Talk.”
But Drizzy later admitted that he was a little upset he didn’t get to sing “Mrs. Officer” with his mentor.

“I wanna say one more fucking thing, because I was a little thrown off tonight,” Drake said on stage. “‘Cause you know, back in the day before I was Drake, I was Aubrey off Degrassi, right?
“And I used to be standing side stage and when ‘Mrs. Officer’ came on, Lil Wayne used to call me on stage to sing Bobby part and he used to call me Jimmy Valentino. I feel like I should have sang ‘Mrs. Officer’ tonight, I’m just saying.”
Lil Wayne’s Welcome to Tha Carter Tour has been full of surprises so far. During his performance in Chicago on April 9, the Louisiana rap legend brought out the Windy City’s own Chance The Rapper for a duet of their Grammy-winning collaboration “No Problems.”
When his roadshow rolled into nearby Detroit two nights later on April 11, Tunechi welcomed Motor City native DeJ Loaf to the Fillmore stage.

The 28-city tour makes its way to Boston on Thursday night (April 13), before heading south to New York, Philadelphia and Silver Spring. Wayne wraps things up on May 13 in Los Angeles.
