New Orleans, LA

Drake performed at Lil Wayne‘s Lil Weezyana Fest in New Orleans over the weekend, but he was upset Weezy didn’t bring him out for “Mrs. Officer.”

During his surprise appearance at the festival, Drizzy told the crowd he was disappointed he didn’t get to sing Bobby V.’s part on Wayne’s 2008 Tha Carter III hit. He explained that during his early career, Wayne would invite him on stage to sing the chorus.

“I wanna say one more fucking thing, because I was a little thrown off tonight,” Drake said as Lil Wayne watched on while stood next to him on the stage. “‘Cause you know, back in the day before I was Drake, I was Aubrey off Degrassi, right?

“And I used to be standing side stage and when ‘Mrs. Officer’ came on, Lil Wayne used to call me on stage to sing Bobby part and he used to call me Jimmy Valentino. I feel like I should have sang ‘Mrs. Officer’ tonight, I’m just saying.”

Drake went on to sing the chorus of “Mrs. Officer” while encouraging fans in the crowd to sing along with him.

“When I get up all in ya / We can hear the angels calling us / We can see the sunrise before us / And when I’m in that thang, I’ll make that body sang / I make it say: wee-ooh-wee-ooh-wee, wee-ooh-wee-ooh-wee / Wee-ooh-wee-ooh-wee,” they sang together.

“It’s just like old times,” Drake commented before departing the stage. “New Orleans, I love you. Lil Wayne, thank you my brother. I don’t even know what else to say to you. I love you so much, man. I appreciate you.”

Produced by Deezle and also featuring Kidd Kidd, “Mrs. Officer” peaked at No. 16 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming Lil Wayne’s fourth top 20 hit. Tha Carter III made a huge commercial splash itself, topping the Billboard 200 with over one million sales in its first week.

Drake has sung “Mrs. Officer” with Lil Wayne on a number of occasions, including during a performance at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California in 2009. At the time, he’d just released his breakout mixtape So Far Gone.

Despite missing out on another “Mrs. Officer” duet, Drake did deliver a set of his own at Lil Weezyana Fest on Saturday evening (October 29). The OVO hitmaker performed “She Will” with Lil Wayne, along with other songs such as “The Motto,” “In My Feelings,” “God’s Plan,” “Nonstop,” “Jimmy Cooks” and “Knife Talk.”
