Dr. Dre will have to forget about Dr. Charles Sophy, or at least stay away from him, after a Los Angeles judge issued a restraining order for Sophy against the Hip Hop icon.

Sophy is, as previously reported, suing Dre for $10 million for engaging in a “malicious campaign of harassment” against him after he counseled the Aftermath Entertainment founder and his former wife during their marital problems.

On Friday (October 11), Sophy filed for, and was granted, a temporary restraining order against Dre, citing a year and a half’s worth of alleged threats from the producer. Court documents cited by TMZsay that Sophy asked for Dre to stay away from him, his adult son, and even his two dogs.

According to Sophy’s lawsuit, he was retained by Dre and his then-wife in 2018 for a “joint psychotherapist-patient relationship” and he would continue counseling them throughout their divorce which was finalized in December 2021.

Sophy claims the harassment started in February 2023 when Dr. Dre contacted him via text message saying that he had been told something “disturbing.”

The N.W.A legend allegedly followed up with the apparent threat: “You’re going to have to pay for that.”

The text messages continued with Dre accusing Sophy of convincing somebody (whose name has been redacted in the suit) to say negative things about him in the press, which the counselor denies.

Sophy says he eventually began to fear for his safety and claims that Dre sent fake FBI agents to his home, which led to the doctor wearing a bulletproof vest.

Dr. Dre, through his attorney Howard King, hit back at the lawsuit, saying it’s a response to a complaint filed by the rap icon to the California’s Osteopathic Medical Board over Sophy’s conduct during their counseling sessions.

“In gross violation of all applicable standards of care, Dr. Sophy inserted himself into a contentious divorce while he simultaneously ‘treated’ not only Mr. and Mrs. Young, but their children,” King said in a statement.

“He was terminated when it was revealed that he was encouraging one of their children to take sides against Mr. Young, even encouraging his son to go to the press with false allegations in order to force a financial settlement that he recommended.

“Dr. Sophy has consistently rebuffed Medical Board attempts to investigate these claims, but has now filed this desperate suit while the noose of the Medical Board is tightening.”
