Whether it’s movies, television shows, or music utilizing his Childish Gambino alias, Donald Glover looks to express his creativity wherever he sees fit. Glover ended his Twitter hiatus early Tuesday (May 11) to give his take on the state of cancel culture in relation to Hollywood and music.
“Saw people on here havin a discussion about how tired they were of reviewing boring stuff (tv & film),” he began. “we’re getting boring stuff and not even experimental mistakes(?) because people are afraid of getting cancelled.”
Donald Glover believes much of the content in entertainment has become stale, causing the industry to take a turn for the worse.
He continued, “So they feel like they can only experiment w/ aesthetic. (also because some of em know they’re not that good).”
With the COVID-19 pandemic grip on Hollywood beginning to loosen, the Grammy-winning creative is getting back to work. He let fans know that shooting for the long-awaited Season 3 of Atlanta is underway and even teased a premiere at the top of 2022, but has no idea when his final album is dropping.
According to TMZ, Donald Glover and even Young Thug were hit with a lawsuit over his Record of the Year-winning “This Is America.”
A rapper named Emelike Nwosuocha who rhymes under the alias of Kidd Wes sued Glover claiming he ripped off his 2016 track titled “Made In America.”
That’s why I’m grateful for DVD/Blu-Ray and Amazon Prime. With everything new that comes out being sanitized, castrated and boring it gives you a chance to catch up on all the stuff from before 2010 that you missed out on. There’s like 100 years worth of music, television and film that was made before everybody got terrified of the internet ruining their lives for saying or doing the wrong thing.
what? if u dont get outside and interact with someone besides worrying about “catching up” on old films. gotta be a 2000s baby smh
truth serum is absolutely right. He never said not to go outside he just said he’s not worried about not having new content because there are a lot of older media we all can experience for the first time.
Learn to read before responding idiot
I don’t think he was talking about Cancel Culture here, I think he was literally talking about a tv show being so weird and getting canceled because of lack of viewership.
Na he didn’t say that at all. Go take a pill for your autism.
Oh and even his best work is stolen smh, he being sued for this is america
Maybe the biggest plant in history?
When everyone is trying to get that Netflix, YouTube, rap money, you will have alot of quantity over quality.
That last pic was made in Amsterdam….
lol – twitter journalism fail. Glover’s not complaining about “cancel culture”. He’s talking about not taking risks because creators don’t want their shows to get canceled after one season (or less).
This is what happens when one media “outlet” runs with a narrative and others copy it. It’s funny because whatever people are calling “cancel culture” has always existed. Back in the day white people in the south would have been complaining about the blacks trying the “cancel” the bus in Montgomery. Ya’ll stupid. Also, it’s not even for sure that dude was even talking about “cancel culture”. But ya’ll go head anyway.
