Doja Cat has some of pop music’s biggest fans, but the pop star recently drew a hard line when her supporters started calling themselves “Kittenz.”

The “Attention” rapper deactivated her Threads account over the weekend after engaging in a brief back-and-forth spat with a few of her fans over the nickname, whom she said should “get off the phone” and “get a job.”

“My fans don’t call themselves shit,” she wrote. “If you call yourself ‘kitten’ or ‘kittenz’ that means you need to get off your phone and get a job and help your parents with the house.”

A fan replied that the Kittenz were “only using the name you gave us.”

“When I was an alcoholic teen,” Doja replied.

“Can you love ur kittenz again or no?”

“I don’t even know what the fuck that means,” Doja bit back.

Another fan chimed in on the dialogue and said they were able to “multitask” and call themselves a kitten while helping around the house. Doja ignored her claim and instead noted that the fan using her “government name” as her Threads username was “creepy as fuck.”

This is far from the first time the Planet Her singer has upset her fan base, as her supporters were recently heavily critical of Doja’s budding relationship with comedian J. Cyrus, whom they called a “racist.”

Doja and J. Cyrus were first rumored to be romantically entangled earlier this year, with the latter being best known for having gone viral on Vine back in the mid-2010s.

However, he’s come under scrutiny numerous times throughout his career, with fans noting that Cyrus had previously apologized for alleged sexual manipulation he engaged in on Twitch, and had allegedly once shared a racist tweet.

“Just so we are clear, this is the same man,” wrote one fan who posted a screenshot of the aforementioned apology. “I don’t want any confusion here. This is a literal predator. Fuck J Cyrus and anyone who associates with him.”

Doja dropped off her new song “Attention” back in June, which made good on her promise to leave the pop world behind, which she reaffirmed on Twitter in April. “No more pop,” she tweeted at the time. “I also agree with everyone who said the majority of my rap verses are mid and corny.”

When asked what inspired this new direction, Doja added: “Pop isnt exciting to me anymore. I dont wanna make it.”

Fans, in turn, were very supportive of Doja’s switch, writing in the Instagram comments of Doja’s “Attention” teaser that they’re excited to watch this new era unfold.

“Oh no, the woman we idolize is no longer participating in the hyper feminine aesthetic that all women must participate in or else they have *reads notes*…sold their soul,” wrote one supporter. “How dare she grow into a *squints* new style. we must tell the church.”
