Doja Cat has come under fire for her recent fashion choice of wearing a shirt featuring Sam Hyde, a comedian known for his alleged association with the so-called “far-right” of American politics.
The Scarlet rapper took to Instagram on Saturday (October 7) to post the photo of herself wearing Hyde on her black shirt. She captioned the photo “dum cumpster.”

After fans got in her comments and dragged her for filth for the post, she subsequently deleted the photo, then re-uploaded it — with the picture of Hyde cropped out — with a new caption: a series of eye-roll emojis.
That didn’t stop the internet backlash, though. Check out the before and after of the two posts below.
While Hyde’s Million Dollar Extreme comedy troupe purports itself to be transgressive and subversive in its humor, there have been more than a few instances where Hyde’s humor has fallen on the offensive side. The comedian has been photographed giving a Nazi salute alongside infamous alt-right troll Weev, who also writes antisemitic tirades for The Daily Stormer. In another, Hyde proudly displayed swastikas behind him while performing.
This, obviously, isn’t the first time that Doja Cat has flirted with 4chan/alt-right-type politics.

There was the now-famous 2020 incident (immortalized by Nore) where old footage surfaced of Doja allegedly laughing at racist jokes in an online incel chatroom.
More recently, back in June, the “Paint the Town Red” rapper came under fire when her romance with controversial comedian J Cyrus began heating up — with TMZ going so far as to snap some paparazzi pics of the two lovebirds smooching away on a Mexican bae-cation.

Doja and J. Cyrus were first rumored to be romantically entangled earlier this year, with the latter being best known for having gone viral on Vine back in the mid-2010s.
However, he’s come under scrutiny numerous times throughout his career, with fans noting that Cyrus had previously apologized for alleged sexual manipulation he engaged in on Twitch, and had allegedly once shared a racist tweet.
“Just so we are clear, this is the same man,” wrote one fan who posted a screenshot of the aforementioned apology. “I don’t want any confusion here. This is a literal predator. Fuck J Cyrus and anyone who associates with him.”
Doja Cat has yet to comment on any of the online criticism, but she had previously riled up her fanbase last month by saying that her 2019 album Hot Pink and 2021 follow-up Planet Her were “cash grabs,” referring to them as “mediocre pop records.”

“Planet Her and Hot Pink were cash-grabs and yall fell for it,” she tweeted. “now i can go disappear somewhere and touch grass with my loved ones on an island while yall weep for mediocre pop.”
Shortly after, she announced that her upcoming album is titled First of All and not Hellmouth, which many fans believed to be the name.
