DJ Premier Confirms One Track On Kanye West’s Album, Perhaps Two More

Legendary producer DJ Premier has worked with Kanye West and the G.O.O.D Music roster including Common since 2007. Early reports about Kanye’s upcoming album indicated that Premier, along with veteran Hip Hop producers such as Pete Rock, RZA, Q-Tip, Mike Dean and DJ Toomp were assisting the multi-platinum superstar.

While in Strasbourg, France recently, the Gang Starr producer and deejay confirmed how far along his role in West’s next album is. “I gave him a track already. He says he wants two more tracks from me, but he’s keepin’ the one I gave him. We haven’t cut vocals yet,” confirmed Premo. “It’s his decision on what the outcome’s gonna be, but when I get him, I’m gonna make some more beats for him.”

Premier did say that he guesses the track Kanye West agreed to keep is “slower,” near 74 beats-per-minute. He also said that he has upcoming work with Busta Rhymes, Fat Joe, NYGz and Nick Javas. In addition to other things, Premier said that the most listened to songs in his iPod as of late include M.O.P.’s “How About Some Hardcore” and early 1980s Pittsburgh rocker Donnie Iris’ “Ah! Leah!”

    1. i wanna hear premo talk about a double cd for nas, the other half produced by dr dre ofcourse, THAT WOULD BE SICKK

      1. thats not gonna happen…. im not sayin i wouldnt want it to happen i just doubt it will i think Ye producing the majority of the album could happen

    2. Fuck giving ye beats give em to O.C. OR JERU…. Just give me that NYGz album, Panchi is one of the most deadly on a mic. He just needs more material, then people will catch on.
Also I need 4 or 5 preemo joints on the next M.O.P. album.
      (got that of my chest)

      1. Problems with that.

Jeru had a major falling off with premo. They cool only bcuz of Gurus death but I think Jeru is done as a rapper

NYGz suck IMO. I gave them a try and wasn’t feelin them. The beats premo gave them were subpar as well

O.C. kinda been out of the spotlight. Jewelz was dope tho

        Agree with the M.O.P.

I think Primo and Kanye is a good thing. Lets see what happens

      2. jeru might be done but he still dope if he could get back wit prino shyt would be fire! nygz r ok but only rock shyt bc of primos beats! oc is still dope that joint wit ag was dope as fuck!

    3. As funny as it sound but is been a long time coming as far as busta and preme on a track and is funny cause i always wondered why never did some shit together but i guess my question been answered for all these years

    4. I agree, give the beats to someone else. Not that I dislike Kanye, but Ye can make beats on his own (and damn good ones too). Wtf is he getting RZA and Q-tip? Just for the hype?

Idek, but I feel like the album’s going to be pretty inconsistent…

    5. meh i dont think it will be as inconistent as it seems now
i think hes switched directions in the past month
well narrowed it down at least
you know….filtering a lot of stuff out
      btw
WHERE IS THE POWER REMIX ITS SUNDAY MORNING!!!!
I have a flight in a few hours and i would have loved to have the remix on one of my iPhones playlists :/

    6. you guys realize that Premo did a song for Ye on Graduation right? “Everythig I Am” was a dope track. But whatever, people love to hate.

      1. Just like the Common joint and the ish he for Black Milk on the Tronic. I think Muggs has the right idea by producin’ whole LPs, like they did un the ’80s and ’90s. Illmatic, Reasonable Doubt and Ready to Die are all seminal hip-hop LPs, but it started the trend of emcees usin’ mutitude producers. A Kanye LP produce soley by Preem, Pete Rock or RZA could start a seimic shift in hip-hop, and invert hip-hop back to its former glory.
