DJ Khaled “Suffering From Success” First Week Sales Predictions

First week sales predictions are in for DJ Khaled’s Suffering From Success.

The album is slated to sell anywhere between 19,000 units and 23,000 units in its first week, according to hitsdailydouble.com.

DJ Khaled’s Kiss The Ring sold approximately 41,000 copies in its first week last year, according to hiphop-n-more.com.

Suffering From Success features an array of artists, including Diddy, Meek Mill, Rick Ross, T.I., Swizz Beatz, Wiz Khalifa and Wale, among others.

DJ Khaled promoted Suffering From Success in several ways. In July, Khaled proposed to Nicki Minaj with a $500,000 ring in what was later revealed to be a joke made to promote his “I Wanna Be With You” single. More recently Khaled promoted the album by riding around Harlem, New York while standing on top of a tour bus with a megaphone. As he yelled at people on the streets about the album, several street team members walked around the bus holding up life-sized cardboard cutouts of DJ Khaled featuring information regarding Suffering From Success on them.

DJ Khaled has been speaking about this album for months. In February, Khaled described the project’s sound.

“What separates [Suffering From Success from previous albums] is that I made it to my seventh album,” he said. “After Kiss the Ring, I’m a winner. So I’ma continue winning, but when I was coming up, I didn’t know that when you win, you gotta deal with a lot of this unnecessary bullshit a lot. So my album sound is going to… You’re going to hear different types of anthems: the suffering side, and the success side.”

    1. yo bigg up shoutout to my duke dj khaled. dude is doing this indepently and he will have the biggest rap album of next week. get it khaled…. and with those numbers it shouldnt be a problem for him to sell more units then kendric…. this kid feel off. i see you khaled. young money. ya bish? ya you bish. ya damn bish!!!!

      1. Drake gonna have a bigger rap album next week and his shit been out for a month! He’s likely to sell double what DJ Khaled does!

      2. LMAO my dude you spend too much time on this site if your bigging yourself up with other names for 30 minutes…and dj khaled is on cash money/universal hes not independent

    2. How the fuck you sell less than 25k on Cash Money records with the entire rap industry featured on your album????

Looks like we have a new contender for FOTY!!

Major Label Flop of Year Nominees for 2013 are as follows

      1) French Montana – Excuse My French 56k first week
      2) Rich Gang – Rich Gang 24k first week
      3) Ace Hood – Trials & Tribulations 37k first week
      4) 2 Chainz – B.O.A.T.S. II: Me Time – 63k first week
      5) MMG – Self Made 3 – 50k first week
      6) DJ Khaled – 23k first week (projected)
      7) Tyga – Hotel California – 54k first week

      1. To determine the greatest flop it’s important to study the artists previous album sales to see if they’re selling more or less than their last effort!

        1) French Montana – N/A – first album, nothing to compare to
        2) We Are Young Money sold 142k first week in 2009
        3) Blood, Sweat & Tears sold 26k first week in 2011
        4) B.O.A.T.S sold 147k first week in 2012 over 600k total
        5) Self Made 2 sold 98k first week in 2012
        6) Kiss the Ring sold 41k first week in 2012
        7) Careless World: Rise of the Last King sold 61k first week

      2. true but i dont think we can say he had the flop of the year with khaled and rich gang doing 23k and 24k and 2 chainz selling like 90k than last year

    3. thats just embarrassing and if you check his twitter he had half the industry tweeting and retweeting buy the album buy the album lol

      1. yo every 5 min he practically begging people to buy his album LOL like anyone following him on twitter didnt know that shit is out

    4. why do they keep putting out his albums when they only sell 100k total? do his singles really make that much money anymore? you could add up the sales of all his albums n itd be less than a million

      1. Do your hip hop homework kid. Khaled has had several platinum and gold singles. That’s his bread and butter. Album sales would be nice, but these artists know how bad the marketplace is. No way they would continue putting out expensive projects without a safety net in place.

      2. A few plat and gold singles in no way will cover the budget for a major label flop like this with that many features and producers!!

So far he only got 1 gold single for this album and guess what! he gotta pay Drake, Lil Wayne and Rick Ross a cut!

      3. lmao my hip hop homework its math bruh bruh…i dont think 4 platinum n a couple gold singles are enough to fund 7 albums with multimillion dollar budgets that sell 100k each with a couple 6 figure music videos from each one

on a side note his shows must be fuckin terrible if he does them by himself

    5. how you sell 23k but you got a fucking bus with your name and face on it and

” street team members walked around the bus holding up life-sized cardboard cutouts of DJ Khaled”

this album is never going to get outta the red!

    6. Does anyone else think that hiphopdx made this article because they enjoy our puns about dj khaleds lack of success? Or dentalbitch’s comments about how this is not flopping when it really is.

    7. how is this nicca eating? its not like he can do shows and get that show money everyone always brings up when their fav rapper flops LOLOLOL

    8. Mac Miller and Tyler the Creator both selling like 4-5 times what DJ Khaled did and they’re independent and they didn’t have the entire mainstream hip-hop world featured on their albums!!!!! This is a failure of epic proportions!

      1. If DJ Drama can sell 25k first week Khaled should be able to do 50k atleast! his last one did 41k so hes falling off!!!!

    9. Not even an album full of the hottest and most relevant artists like Lil Wayne, Drake, Rick Ross, Meek Mill, Nicki Minaj etc.. can save him!

I hope he kept the receipt for that 500k ring he bought Nicki

      1. You can’t be this stupid. It has nothing to do with big name artists. In fact, the bigger the names the more people will download it for free. People are stealing music. I’m surprised these artists even bother making new music anymore. Nobody supports hip hop unless it’s a gimmick, or a co-sign.

    10. And obviously, the guys who predict sales are virgin haters that haven’t got laid. The sales are underaccounted. It actually sold 350k copies this week. In the future, once they get laid, the will change the sales total.

      1. is that your new schtick? every comment seems to be about getting laid LOL

this lil kid must have seen his first porno

      2. How is it a schtick? Getting laid will make you like ymcmb more because the overstimulation of the brain will cause your brain to click.

Khaled has unaccounted sales that total around 300k.

      3. dentalbitch, we know you;re lying and trolling. Khaledis about to bomb selling 23k 1st week and no amount of sex will change that.

      1. His failure lasts a few months until a single goes platinum. Your failure continues steadily throughout your life.

      2. aint no more big singles on this record. No new Friends as big as it gets. he should have put out this album months back when that song was still getting play!

    11. I don’t understand the celebratory behavior over DJ Khaleds first week projections.

Its been a horrible year in terms of sales for traditional HipHop music with artists like Ace Hood, Juicy J, Tyga, Big Sean and others seeing low sales despite having strong singles.

(Poor Pusha T only managed 75ak first week despite rave reviews universal acclaim and Kanye hyping the project.)

On the flip side non-traditional artists like Drake, Mackelmore, Kid Cudi, Tyler the Creator, A$AP, & Mac Miller saw healthy first week sales in excess of 100K.

Their is a shift in HipHop at the present and Hipster-Hop is the new movement and the mainstream sound is becoming less and less Soul/R&B and more POP/Rock.

On a positive note Khaled did his best with guerilla styled promotion but the climate is bad, and he needed a huge single, all in all he’s still the only DJ in the culture dropping major label albums so salute his effort.

      1. So Tyga and Big Sean are traditional hip-hop artists but ASAP Rocky, Mack Miller and Tyler the Creator are non traditional?

Whats the criteria you base this off of?

      2. “he’s still the only DJ in the culture dropping major label albums ”

DJ Drama would strong disagree!! SHit even DJ Drama’s last album Quality Street Music sold 25k first week and he aint have half the budget or promo!

      3. A$AP is the type of artist to put Skrillex and Florence Welch on his album and wear a skirt to match his rench braids…Hipsters love that shit.

Mack Miller is white, traditional HipHoppers are African American and from the African American community,, he can put Nicki Randa on his album and Hipsters love that shit

Tyler is a weirdo, and the most non-traditional rapper I mentioned, he cross-dresses and makes alternative raps full of rape fantasies and eats cockroaches in his videos and Hilsters love that shit

Tyga & Big Sean you pretty much get your club bangers and usual features nothing too weird or out the norm, not Hipster friendly.

      4. We celebrating cause all he talks about is success this, we the best, we on top, we run this shit, suffering from all this success, kiss my ring,

then the album comes out and he sells half as much as the roots

      5. @BruthaDee

everyone follow him on twitter and retweet him! he got over 7000 tweets but no one retweets or comments on any! he basically talking to himself! LOL

      6. Why are you posting another dudes Twitter like a groupie? Shouldn’t you be posting your own instead of studying his? Dude you are weird or a homo.

    12. Featured Artists: Future, Ace Hood, Rick Ross, Meek Mill, T.I. Swizz Beatz, Diddy, Big Sean, French Montana, Timbaland, Plies, Lil Wayne, Chris Brown, Wiz Khalfia, Wale, Nicki Minaj, Drake, Mavado, J. Cole, Bas, Scarface, Jadakiss, Akon, John Legend, Anthony Hamilton, Birdman, Vado, Jeremih

Producers: Timbaland, Arthur McArthur, Allen Ritter, Beewirks, Boi-1da, Bkorn, The Beat Bully, Canei Finch, Cool & Dre, DJ Frass, DJ Nasty & LVM, Lee On the Beats, Noah “40” Shebib, J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League, J. Cole, JA Productions, Rico Beats, Rugah Rahj, StreetRunner, Young Chop, Vinylz

ANDDD 23k first week!!! THAT IS AN EPIC FAIL WITH THAT MUCH HELP HE SHOULD HAVE DONE 60k minimum

    13. I heard Khaled is so balling him and Ricky each bought a little asian lady to wash their backs cause they can’t reach!

    14. 23,000 is horrible, but when you realize most people probably downloaded this for free, 23,000 isn’t so bad. He’ll have 1 single go platinum or gold and an 8th album will be in the works. That’s how this dudes operates.

    15. DJ Drama did drop, you can call E1 a major if you want to but it’s still Koch if you ask me.

One of the whites asked me how I felt about Avery Storm and Robin Thicke and I have to admit they are solid R&B performers but most idiots don’t know the difference between a POP feature and an R&B feature.

Hipsters don’t like Miley Cyrus, they like Anna Wise, Skylar Grey and Jhene Aiko.

Mac Millers album was rife with Hipster favorites from Odd Future while the more traditional HipHoppers went with more street oriented features.

You won’t hear Mac Miller at the club, the carwash or the cookout, but you are guaranteed to hear some Juicy J.

      1. Dude you’re almost 40!! Why do you continue to argue with kids on a hip-hop website?

You’ve already been banned from more hip-hop websites and and forums than most people ever visit for being a racist troll!!!

I would expect that shit from a teenager but not a grown ass man!

      2. anna wise singing backup on a few kendrick tracks is a pop feature for hipsters? LOL But if Rick Ross does a track with Robin Thicke it’s a solid R&B collabo

      3. Theres gotta be some kind of MMG/YMCMB fanclub website where this weird racist old guy could hang out on and get along with everyone who likes shitty music like him.

      4. this racist tries to discredit Kendrick Lamar’s success because a white skinned woman no one ever heard of sang some back up vocals on 2 tracks uncredited… claims thats interscope and da machine pushing making sure kendrick goes plat by any means… calls it Operation Infiltration!

But if Rick Ross does song with whites like Robin Thicke and Avery Storm its somehow acceptable and more legit because he wasnt as successful!!

      5. @Dylan

You are a 50 year old white pedophile that follows strangers around on random blogs trying to flirt with them and pretend like you know them. You don’t know me, my age, or my politics and by pretending that you do only makes you seem like a deranged stalker ashamed of his true identity.

You hide your true identity becaue you know the world would ridicule you because you are a wretched and disgusting peice of human filth.

You can’t discuss HipHop politics with a sick deranged psycopath that can repeat verbatim random posts you made, LOL, I’m not even trolling this freakish dude but he’s the only person weird enough and weak enough to allow my posts or my opinion to affect his behavior.

LOL, I scrambled this freaks brain with words on a computer screen.

    16. “DJ Drama would strong disagree!!”

He’s nowhere near as high profile as Khaled is, and I’m sure people downloaded Drama’s album for free as well.

      1. what are you even arguing dude? For someone who’s ‘nowhere near as high profile’ to sell more albums first week than DJ Khaled is not a good look!!!

      1. I don’t agree that Khaled is the best DJ in the world, he’s multi-talented and accomplished but Herc & Flash are the greatest IMO.

Khaled eats good, he’s still getting an executive A&R check from Def Jam, he gets 25K and up to host parties, plus he eats off every record that Ace Hood sells on WTB and “Bugatti” just went Platinum

Just to keep it 1-hunnid Khaled got about 90 ongs in his BMI catalog eating off the publishing.

You have to salute the mans hustle and hard work.

      2. no one believes that khaled is an A&R for def jam

he was at def jam south years ago but i dont think thats the case no more

      3. You don’t have to believe Khaled works for Def Jam but normal people actually do.
Just like the handicapped guy that didn’t know Ace Hood was signed to Khaleds WTB.

I doubt people are really this ignorant, they are just lonely and seeking some attention and interaction.

    17. dentalbitch, we know you;re lying and trolling. Khaledis about to bomb selling 23k 1st week and no amount of sex will change that.”

He sold 350k this week. Its just that the guys projecting salws are haters that never had pussy. Once they get laid, a switch in their brains will flip and they will post the correct numbers.

      1. Nope. He’s gonna sell 23K. The people who make these predictions are experienced industry experts, not trolls on the internet like you. No sex is gonna change their predictions at all.

      1. im sure he masks his body odour pretty well with various colognes and sprays but that only goes so far!!

you see this nicca at the grammys in his penguin tux he was sweating his ass off and he wasnt even nominated for anything!!!

    18. That’s what you get when your album is FULL OF TRAP BEATS!!! That’s why this shit isn’t selling! TRAP MUSIC WILL BE THE DEATH OF HIPHOP. That shit is so unoriginal, non-creative, and redundant it’s no wonder no one will buy albums anymore. DEATH TO TRAP BEATS!!! You all are wack for even liking any of it.

    19. “thats why its funny that he sold more, DUH!!!!

Khaled has gold and platinum singles. Does Drama? I didn’t think so. Duh!!!

      1. uh but drama is independent though…khaled moves 20k thats is split so through= universal/republic/cash money/we the best

given that he is about to generate about 200k how much do u think is going 2 his pockets….how much was spent on those features and production? smh

    20. “For someone who’s ‘nowhere near as high profile’ to sell more albums first week than DJ Khaled is not a good look!!!”

That would be like comparing a football team that scores 6 points to another one that scored 3. Who cares if Drama sold more. Khaled has way more money, and a roster of hit singles that lace his pockets. He’s not sweating 1st week sales. Drama is.

      1. according to those stupid celebrity networth websites you like to use DJ Khaled is worth 10 M and DJ Drama is worth 12 M!!!

    21. “Every album gets downloaded for free, that’s no excuse for low numbers”

But years ago that wasn’t the case. Non event albums would go gold all the time, some even platinum. Downloading is a major factor in why alot of rappers aren’t eating as good as say Eminem, Jay Z or Drake.

    22. uptil I looked at the paycheck which had said $6538, I didn’t believe that my mom in-law really making money in their spare time on their apple labtop.. there moms best frend haz done this 4 less than seventeen months and resently paid the dept on there home and bourt a top of the range Ford. see here now http://smal.ly/YntWC

but this device does not have the popular Apps that your friends use. I’ll take you to the Apple store later.” Well can I do anything with it Dad? “Well, you can type reports on it with Office.” Dad I’m only in Third grade.

      1. i feel sorry for any club that pays 35k for this guy to shout we the best, this shit special over every song!

i also feel sorry for anyone who paid a cover to get into said club

    23. I don’t think he could have picked a more ironic album title for this one!

well maybe if he titled it “Never Flopping”

    24. Who gives a shit about this mickey D
Eating Taco supreme deluxe ass ninja
He’ll be dead in 2 years you high cholestrol
      Fuckboy.

    25. “according to those stupid celebrity networth websites you like to use DJ Khaled is worth 10 M and DJ Drama is worth 12 M!!!”

One of the most popular DJs of today Dj Khaled net worth has been announced to reach a little bit over 30.5 million dollars.

DJ Drama can keep his little $12 mill lol

      1. “One of the most popular DJs of today Dj Khaled net worth has been announced to reach a little bit over 30.5 million dollars.”

        You made that up.

      2. notice how he didnt respond at all once he got called out on his lies!!! he just pretends it didnt happen and responds to some other portion of a comment with more nonsense

    27. last song i liked by him was WE TAKIN OVER and it was special because it had WAYNE, ROSS and TI all on the same track and that was rare back then to see that! DJ Khaled unified them all and got shit poppin. Problem is you can only make the same type of song over n over so many times when you only have 10-15 artists to choose from. Plus his screamin over songs is terribly annoying!

    28. “No, it doesn’t”

      Consider these staggering statistics:

-In the decade since peer-to-peer (p2p) file-sharing site Napster emerged in 1999, music sales in the U.S. have dropped 47 percent, from $14.6 billion to $7.7 billion.

-From 2004 through 2009 alone, approximately 30 billion songs were illegally downloaded on file-sharing networks.

-NPD reports that only 37 percent of music acquired by U.S. consumers in 2009 was paid for.

-Frontier Economics recently estimated that U.S. Internet users annually consume between $7 and $20 billion worth of digitally pirated recorded music.

One credible analysis by the Institute for Policy Innovation concludes that global music piracy causes $12.5 billion of economic losses every year.

      1. downloads affects everyone though. to try and say its only hurting certain artists is wrong. truth is if there was no illegal downloads those artists would sell more but so would all the big names that are still going plat and gold… so they would still be a joke no matter what!!!

    29. “i bet you 50’s worst selling album sold about as much or more than all 7 khaled albums put together”

Nobody brings up stats like that though lol Khaled is successful enough to keep putting out albums. How they do is irrevelant because we all know how his formula works. 50 with all his money and past credentials doesn’t even have a formula he can use now. He’s just a regular guy now, no different that Ja Rule, Fat Joe and all the other rappers he laughed at for having low sales.

      1. “no different that Ja Rule, Fat Joe and all the other rappers he laughed at for having low sales.”

i can think of about 100 million differences

    30. “downloads affects everyone though. to try and say its only hurting certain artists is wrong”

They only hurt the bigger artists in that instead of selling 4 or 5 million, they sell 2. What do the broke rappers do who have no realistic shot at success? Their albums are DOA before they even hit a store shelf. No excuses. A flop is a flop. Ross not going platinum is partly his fault, but downloading killed the concept of an album being an event. Even Detox was shelfed. Dre knows even he can’t compete with freeloaders killing his buzz.

    31. “QUOTEMAN SAID KHALED IS WORTH MORE THAN RICK ROSS!! LOL”

No half a man. The internet said it. Cry to the cyber gods.

    32. “What’s respect if you don’t even have it”

How do you know Rick Ross doesn’t get respect? You aren’t part of his inner circle. Neither am I, but most of the industry, including the biggest businessman, Jay Z, works with the guy when he could just as easily tell him to get lost.
