Rapsody delivered her star-studded EVE project last month. The 16-track effort paid tribute to 15 powerful black women who had an impact on Rapsody’s life — from Afeni Shakur to Nina Simone.
The album caught the attention of several of Rapsody’s peers, including Diddy. On Thursday (September 12), the Grammy Award-nominated MC hopped on Instagram to thank Diddy for his comments on EVE.
With “CLEO” bumping in the background, Diddy says, “OK, something that finally excites me. Rapsody. I’m excited. Yeah. Whewwww!”
Rap captioned the video, “Diddy gave Rapdiddy the ‘whewwwww.’ Thank you, Legend!! @diddy.”
In the comment section, Diddy added, “The rap game needs you. Thank you.”

EVE served as the follow-up to 2017’s Laila’s Wisdom, Rapsody’s Roc Nation debut. The album was nominated for two Grammy Awards in the Best Rap Album and Best Rap Song categories. It peaked at No. 125 on the Billboard 200.
This time, EVE hit the chart at No. 76, her highest debut yet. HipHopDX rated the album a perfect 5.0 for its overall concept, intricate wordplay and smooth production.
“CLEO,” which Diddy was bumping, was produced by Rap’s mentor 9th Wonder and uses a sample from Phil Collins’ 1981 hit “In The Air Tonight.”
Revisit it below.
Hit the chart at 76? But Lizzo is number 1?? What exactly is Roc Nation doing for her
Nahhhh, it’s The Nation sleepkid
Definitely Dope joint. I’m still listening 2 da whole album. Dat joint “CLEO” is something deep like how Nip Hus would have done it in his own way. Love da flows. I love it 5/5 4shp. Bigg UPS to Rap. She’s Killin da game rite now. Lauryn Hill of today in da RapHipHop way.
***** My bad bout da misspelled words my phone is cracked lol. I meant bigg ups and 4sho. *****
She’d be so stoked to hear that. Lauryn has been her inspiration since day 1.
You children need to stop comparing your foolish artists to the real legends of the game. Rhapsody is nowhere near Lauryn Hill and Kendrick shouldn’t even be mentioned in the same sentence as Pac. You’re a soulless generation of losers and as such your music has no actual substance.
Overrated millenial fluff. Same as Kendrick.
Didn’t even know about Rapsody until I heard Big K.R.I.T. speak on her. I don’t usually listen to new cats now-a-days because they carbon copies. I will listen to those who bucking the system and not following some of this foolishness on the airwaves.
this is good this girl been putting it down for a moment now
The rap game needs her, like the rap game needs King HOV. That’s why she signed with the ROC and not with the broke ass Nas’ Ass Appeal. Nas would’ve drunkenly beat Rapsody after he saw her chart at 76, but on ROC Nation, King HOV allows his artists to grow and eventually reach the top. Rapsody will be there soon. It’s the ROC in here!
You know what the rap game doesn’t need? French Montana, Machine Gun Kelly, and everyone else signed to BadBoy.
EVE FLOPPED. Rapsody’s new album debuted at number 76 on the Billboard 200, and then after only ONE WEEK, “Eve” fell off the Billboard 200. NO ONE is listening to that garbage. Rapsody’s new album is just boring. Rap’s savior? I think NOT.
shut up bitch ass m’fucah, your momma flopped thats why you’re a failure …put out an album fuck it just a song fuck that a poem lets hear the nonsensical jargon you spew. You primordial heathen
0-100 real quick lol chillllll
My only question is did the EVE album feature rapper Eve, cause if it didn’t that’s a missed opportunity
And the cops need u DIDDY u fucking culture just like Jay signing these artists to lifetime deals they can never get out of
Bahamadia all over again…
