Daz Dillinger Accuses DJ Mustard Of Jacking His Beat

As one of the original members of Tha Dogg Pound, Daz Dillinger had a hand in bringing the G-Funk sound to a wider audience. Now he’s accusing Los Angeles producer DJ Mustard of taking his influence too literally.

In an interview with DPG Uncut TV, Dillinger provides evidence for what he feels is a direct bite.

“They stole this but I ain’t get no publishing so that’s why I gotta sue the publishing company. DJ Mustard didn’t give us no publishing, he didn’t give us nothing. You hear that beat?” he asks while playing Mila J’s “My Main,” comparing it to the beat for “Who Got Some Gangsta Shit?” off Snoop Dogg’s Murder Was the Case soundtrack.

He also claims that Mustard wasn’t even the one behind the beat, and that he just stamped his name on it.

“He didn’t even do the beat. He just put his name on the beat. Somebody else did all that shit, he just put his name on there,” said Dillinger.

He also says that he and Mustard got into it on Twitter over the accusations, but that it had been settled at the time. Still, he says that once he gets his publishing issues with Sony settled he’ll be coming after Mustard.

Daz has an extremely storied — and underrated — career as a producer, having crafted beats for the likes of Tupac, Snoop and Nate Dogg and his longtime DPGC partner, Kurupt.

      1. OK L.A., his slogan should be “Mustard stealin the beat ho!” Daz has originality and diversity in his music. Check the catalog. All Eyez on Me, Snoop, Dogg Pound, Dre; tons of west coast classics. Come on man, do your research. All of Mustard’s beats sound the same. Same base, same water sprinkler hi hats, same 808’s. Come on man.

      4. Fuck you nigga Mustard make hits ! So stop hastening on mustard but you know what it is mustard on tha beat hoe!

      5. If you were a real L.A. nigga, you would show respect to Daz and others that paved the way for the new West Coast generation.

    1. Daz got a hell of a legal team, he always be taking these clowns to court for not paying him and he win everytime!!! Mustard better settle out of court!!!

    2. Wow. Irrelevant Daz is upset? Mustard jacked your beat, but didn’t even make it? Confusing. Also, the Mustard beat is 10X better. And don’t you mean you both are going to get sued by whoever you took that sample from? LOL. Clown. Mustard should just settle out of court for a pack of Newports and a bag of flaming hot Cheetos with broke a$$ Daz. Last hit circa 1995, mustard was like 3 years old then. Loser

      1. You have no business mind-set you dumb fuck. Daz got bread, this nigga been in the game since the 90s have you heard of anything about him being broke??? It’s rappers who broke left and right. Daz made that beat himself, so can’t nobody suit him your dumbass.

      2. Get fucked young ass lil bitch. Daz responsible for most of the west coast sound, past and present and he’s got more classics than mustard will ever make. I like mustard too but the dude has never given props to any g funk or Bay Area legends that started the sound he’s jacked and repurposed

    3. Daz gave us classic beats.. i.e. 2 of Amerikaz most wanted. Mustard is doing his thing now but you new children don’t know nuthin about a veteran and prominent figure in the sound of West Coast Hip Hop

    4. Daz needs to send some these young crip up and comers to pay this fat fuck a visit cuz. Mash out on this fat bitch.

    5. Daz is classic, mustard could only wish to be half of the producer daz is…nice try though.

    6. Ha DJ Mustard just let the cash flow like mustard to that nigga Daz, stop jacking and biting beat nigga. you last.

    7. Not first time, he did it on YG’s song ”Do It to ya” sampling Dogg pound ”Lets Play House”

can we say sampling instead of jackin?

    8. Mustard and the majority of these trap west coast artist really suck nowadays. YG is wack, Vince Staples is wack, Mustard is wack. There is way too much trap in west coast. Bring back the classic sound. Music has gotten way too electro and trappy. Bring back real drums in the music

    9. Daz is one of the best and most underrated hiphop producers. easily top 10. dont mention Mustard in the same sentence. Though Mustard is dope, hes not there yet.

DX need to do an article on underrated hiphop producers. guys like Daz, KayGee

    10. Damn, Mustard stealing beats? when i first heard the mila j beat its obvious its the Daz beat, I assumed he paid for the melody. If you jack, just pay up. theres nothing wrong with sampling, but just pay the original artist/producer

    11. That’s all Mustard does is copy other producers. He ripped his whole style off of Bay Area producers. Mustard is just a generic producer with no originality
