Danny Brown has shared his views on “white boy rappers” and went a step further by revealing his top picks.

In a new episode of Drink Champs, the rapper was prompted to pick between white rappers like Eminem and Machine Gun Kelly before revealing who he thinks is deserving of the top spot.

“Come on man. Y’all trying to be funny now,” he responded when asked to pick between his fellow Detroit native and MGK.

“I mean of course it’s going to be Em. I mean, we wouldn’t get an MGK if it weren’t for Em. You know? Weren’t no white boys coming around, you know?,” he added citing Third Base, Vanilla Ice, Milk Bone, and the Beastie Boys as predecessors.

“I mean, my favorite white boy rapper is El-P [of Run The Jewels], so…” he added as N.O.R.E. chimed in naming Em his favorite white boy rapper of all time.

Elsewhere in the interview, Danny revisited his very first encounter with multifaceted artist Pharrell Williams admitting he likely walked away from the situation weirded out.

“I seen him one time and I think I probably weirded him out because I couldn’t stop following him around,” he began, speaking of meeting Pharrell at the [56:00 mark]. “But, it was by mistake,” he added with a laugh.

“Cuz he just had an aura around him.  It was like a glow. I wasn’t meaning to do it. I couldn’t ‘t stop myself. It was like I was just drawn to the n-gga man.

“Everywhere he went I was like damn I’m going there too. It was like an I don’t know a kindred spirit or something. I can’t explain it. I couldn’t stop following the n-gga around,” he continued.

“I couldn’t stop following the n-gga. I know he was like ‘What the fuck wrong with this n-gga?’ But, I couldn’t stop following the n-gga man,” he concluded emphasizing once more “I wasn’t doing it on purpose.”

Danny’s Drink Champs appearance follows news of the rapper embarking on a North America tour showcasing hits from his updated catalog across 24 shows in 34 days. The tour spans cities like Chicago, Portland, Los Angeles, and Phoenix, culminating in Nashville, Tennessee on April 14th.

      1. Don’t panic. This so-called journalist can surely spell the names of Madonna, Rihanna and some other important hip-hop artists.

    1. For a bunch of people who claim to want to stop being treated differently for their skin colour, they sure bring it up a lot.

      1. Ikr? Lol they’ll keep using slavery that their ancestors that they never met went through and “racism” as an excuse. Danny Brown is a millionaire for rapping who has mostly white fans……. It’s beyond laughable at this point. Everybody has moved on else in the world even in countries that had slavery too. African Americans love to play victim.

      1. They only lick them for clout than act like they the main man . Same here he wanted bones clout now he act like they ain’t had no romance together lol

    2. DB isn’t the most tech MC. He makes up for it with artistry, creative control and being very picky. He has a Vince Staples work ethic, yet not as good as a MC IMO. Still. Whiteboy rappers? Not a huge pool to chose from. El P and Em are solid. Paul Wall comes to mind. Although I’m fairly convinced he’s a black guy in white face. Bubba. Yella. Decent spitters. Over an instrumental off the top, real rapping, they’d kill Danny.

    3. These some old heads , they don’t even know about riff raft and mac miller . They were probably deep in their wives stomach pocket at that time when white boys were doing more heat than blacks and also doing it fresh and modern way , not just copying another old heads

      1. the fuck are you talking about? there are tons of wack rappers out there and you’re one of them stfu

    4. Bro are they like in their own world ? Nowadays even Soulja boy has much more tech than them yet they still suck each others old asses down to keep in the game lol

    5. “LP”??? And this is supposed to be a hip hop magazine?

Considering the two of them have collaborated on multiple projects over the years, this should be of no surprise to anyone. Go ahead and listen to El’s verse on “The Last Huzzah Remix” and tell me he isn’t one of the dopest MC’s to ever touch a mic. And then there is his production which is a on a different level all together. His talent transcends color.

    7. just have to start another music business where everyone isn’t a worthless homo – it’s clear they choose folks for a reason and somewhere down the line it’s apparent. I preferred when he was a junkie honestly as bi-curious brown is cringe
