Danny Brown has revealed the official title for his upcoming album.
After stating that the LP would be titled ODB last week, the Detroit, Michigan native has announced that the actual title will be Old. During an interview with Pitchfork, Brown clarified that the title is inspired by “The ‘O’ in ODB” and that it’s “75 percent done,” and that it’s in the mixing stages. “As the actor in this movie, I’m wrapped,” he said.
Describing the LP as “more mature,” Brown says that fans of XXX are in for a surprise. “If people are just looking for dick-sucking jokes, there isn’t too many of them this time,” he explained.
Producers involved with the project include SKYWLKR and Paul White, as well as Darq E Freaker and Oh No. He’s waiting on guest verses from A$AP Rocky, ScHoolboy Q, Ab-Soul, Kitty Pryde and Purity Ring, who will produce as well as contribute a hook from vocalist Megan James.
The album won’t feature any production from TNGHT, but Rustie is a sealed deal. “I was kind of stuck, and through a stroke of God, he emailed me and said, ‘Yo, I want to submit you some tracks for the album.’ I thought I was done, but I knew I needed a little more flair. He sent me seven beats, and I ended up using three of them.”
