Danny Brown gave fans a quick hit of new material with his verse on the recent Avalanches track “Frankie Sinatra,” but now it seems we’re closer to hearing the full follow-up to his 2013 album, Old.
Brown posted an image of himself and TDE engineering/mixing wiz Derek “MixedByAli” Ali to Instagram Friday (June 10) with the caption “Me and the bruh bruh @mixedbyali putting the final touches on my next masterpiece #Bruisers get ready Stanny Crown season is approaching.”
Ali is the Grammy-award winner behind the mixes for many of TDE’s major releases, including Ab-Soul’s Control System (an album Brown featured on), ScHoolboy Q’s Habits & Contradictions, and Kendrick Lamar’s Section.80, Good Kid, M.A.A.D City and To Pimp A Butterfly.
Brown geeked out on Twitter over Ali’s work on Lamar’s universally acclaimed 2015 album just after it dropped.
Some fans jumped to the conclusion that Brown’s caption hashtag described the name of the new album, an idea that Brown quickly shot down.
Anyone familiar with Brown’s 2011 album XXX knows that Bruiser — that’s his crew.
He can rip a feature here and there but ya that voice is too annoying to hear for a whole record
If you can get past his horrible voice and flow, you’re lucky enough to enjoy his bars, but that’s a real hard thing to do.
this nigga was weird but cool at one point now he’s learning heavily towards weird
