Danny Brown Declares Himself “The Best Rapper Ever”

While speaking to the Huffington Post prior to his performance at An Evening With Danny Brown Presented By Sonos And Pandora earlier this month, Detroit, Michigan rapper Danny Brown addressed his next studio album and revealed that despite a handful of past releases, he feels he doesn’t receive the respect he deserves.

Brown also dubbed himself “the best rapper ever” and declared that he needs to be respected.

“I still don’t feel like I have the respect I deserve. I’m the best rapper ever and I need to be respected,” Danny Brown said.

In regards to his next studio album, the Motor City rapper says he plans on releasing a “shorter,” more compact project in order to release an album that’s close to perfection.

“It’s probably going to be a shorter release than normal because I’m trying to glance perfection with this one,” he said. “With previous projects I had to branch out and show my range. But with this one, I feel like people know what I can do and what I’m capable of, so now it’s just time for me to show that I can make perfect.”

With his next studio album, Brown says he’s also out to prove that he’s still one of “the most witty” and “the most unpredictable” artists around.

“I just got to back up on this next album, and consistently prove that I’m always the most witty, the most unpredictable. I got the best stories, the illest punchlines, the hottest interviews,” the rapper said.

Danny Brown’s last studio album, Old was released in October of last year and received a 4-star rating from HipHopDX. The album is described as one that is “sure to shock and awe timid onlookers.”

    1. Danny Brown is no doubt one of the top MC’s in the game right now. Whether he is the best remains to be seen, but listen to his mixtapes and his albums before you hate

    2. His style is corny and his voice is terrible, but despite that every single rapper should in all fairness have that mindset to constantly be on top of your game. Rap is a competitive sport.

      1. hate on his style all you want, but he doesn’t always rap in that high pitched voice he uses. check out some of his older tracks like Change and Let It Burn. He is versatile as fuck

    3. I mean..I like Danny’s music, but this nigga trippin’ on some real shit. No way in hell is Danny “the best”.. Not even close to legends or even guys blowin’ up right now. Still though, Danny goes hard. I’m excited for his next LP.

    4. This is like when Lil wayne declared himself the best rapper alive these Stan niggas are gonna start believing Danny Brown now.

    5. Danny is SOMETIMES the most entertaining rapper ever. His voices is hot and cold. Sometimes its the hardest shit you ever heard and sometimes you have to turn him the fuck off. Every artist should feel they are good but this is just for laughs.

    6. Danny Brown is not in my top 250 let alone greatest rapper ever. Look at his own state of Michigan and you’ll see he’s not top5:

      Eminem
      Elzhi
      Royce
      One Be Lo
      Jon Connor
      Proof
      Kuniva
      Obie Trice
      Guilty Simpson
      Invincible (dope female MC)
Journalist 103 (listen to “The Left Gas Mask” by him and Apollo Brown)

I’m sure there are more. He’s decent (although his voice annoys me), but nothing special when you’re a true hip hop head that knows they’re shit. Diff/creative sure but that doesn’t mean he has amazing technical skill set

    7. This is why hip hop sucks right now. This is not news/article worthy. Everyone, including Danny Brown, knows for a fact that he isn’t the best rapper ever. Every time a rapper says some dumb shit like this it gets posted. Why? What the fuck is this? People magazine?
