Its been 14 years since R&B recluse D’Angelo has delivered a complete body of work.
Barring a few performances, a Red Bull music lecture and several updates from Questlove fans haven’t heard much from the neo-soul pioneer since 2000.
All that changed in the wee hours of the morning (December 15), as the soul-singer’s third album, Black Messiah, surfaced on iTunes and Spotify.
Black Messiah boasts 12-tracks, including the funky single “Sugah Daddy.”
Questlove lent a hand on three songs off the project, but a majority of the production was handled by D’Angelo.
The Black Messiah cover art, tracklist and album are below:
- Ain’t That Easy
- 1000 Deaths
- The Charade
- Sugah Daddy
- Really Love
- Back in the Future (Part I)
- Till It’s Done (Tutu)
- Prayer
- Betray My Heart
- The Door
- Back in the Future (Part II)
- Another Life
Holy shit? Is this article a mirage? Am I really about to listen to a new D’Angelo album? Sweet jesus
LMAO!!…. Exactly
I stopped after the first 6 tracks. Still trying to process it all. Saving tracks 7-12 for next week…or next year. Fourteen years was worth the wait. He’s back and I’m damn glad about it.
