More details have come to light involving the shooting that took place on DaBaby’s property in Troutman, North Carolina earlier this week.
According to TMZ, the Billboard chart-topping rapper exchanged words with the intruder and shot him in the leg after the person breached a fence surrounding the $2.3 million mansion. DaBaby called 911 and was cooperative with officers once they arrived on the scene.
The Troutman Police Department responded to reports of a shooting on Wednesday night (April 13) and discovered someone with a non-life threatening gunshot wound on the property. The shooting victim was transported to local hospital for treatment.
Troutman town manager Ron Wyatt said DaBaby stays at the home periodically and it’s impossible to stumble on the property by accident. One of DaBaby’s relatives is reportedly listed as the owner of the estate, which is surrounded by a large wall and manned by security guards.

The Troutman Police Department issued a statement about the shooting to its Facebook page shortly after 7:45 p.m. local time when the incident took place.
“On 04/13/2022 at around 1945 hours officers with the Troutman Police Department responded to a report of a shooting at 135 Stillwater Road,” it read. “Officers arrived on scene where they found one subject suffering from a non-life threatening gunshot wound. The subject was transported by Iredell County EMS to a medical facility for treatment.
“Due to the ongoing and continuing nature of this investigation, no information as to the names of those involved or the circumstances can be released at this time. This is an isolated incident and there is no threat to the community at large.”
So far, police have made no arrests. All the evidence will be turned over to the District Attorney.

I don’t know the laws in N. Carolina but in many states you cannot shoot someone for simply trespassing, unless they are using deadly force against you: if he has a gun or knife, if he charges at you with a hammer, etc. Otherwise all you can do is call the police you can’t bust a cap in a ninjas’ ass just because he jumped your fence.

You are actually incorrect. You can use deadly force if there is ANY feeling of an attack, the intruder doesn’t have to have a weapon to justify shooting them. If they try to fight you in any way, you can shoot them. At least in the stand your ground states, which is the majority.

In the state I live in, I couldn’t even shoot someone if they were at my door with a gun trying to break in, I’d have to wait until they made entry until I could legally protect myself. But this dude can shoot a man climbing his fence? We don’t even know if dude was armed! They didn’t say anything about a weopon, and I may be wrong but I’m not aware of any states that allow homeowners to shoot someone climbing their fence, especially if they don’t see a weopon.
