Cordae is sharing his side of the story as to why things went south for the YBN crew years back – but he’s still cool with both Nahmir and Almighty Jay to this day.

The YBN collective started off with just Nahmir and Jay while playing XBOX Live back in 2014, with Cordae joinung a few years later. After gaining popularity and dropping their sole project YBN: The Mixtapein 2018, the group would disband permanently just a few years later.

Speaking about the split in a new vlog with YouTuber Peaks100, Cordae chocked it up to bad business and one bad argument that they couldn’t bounce back from.

“Name one group that stayed together,” he started off. “I mean bro, we never recorded a song with all three of us. The business side of it was kind of like, super fucked up honestly. N-ggas got into a big argument in Europe. People say certain things they can’t take back – it’s still love but it’s just some shit that you just can’t take.

“Nahmir, that’s still my homie. Jay, I still fuck with bruh. Nahmir threw n-ggas that [alley] oop so I’m very grateful.”

To Cordae’s point about the bad business of it all, Almighty Jay previously spoke out on that in a post to Instagram back in 2021 where he called out the group’s former manager, James McMillan.

“This n-gga James McMillan is a fraud,” he wrote. “He sign n-ggas to janky deals and fuck em over. Nobody know nothing about the shit we go through on a daily basis being signed to this n-gga ’cause we cover for this n-ggas ass. I’m done with this shit.”

Both Nahmir and Cordae liked the post, seemingly co-signing his statement.

He then added even more context in his Instagram Story, writing: “Trademarking the YBN name behind n-ggas backs. Assigned me a lawyer he used to be engaged to without telling me. SMH. Took advantage of some kids bro. If y’all really wanna know why YBN broke up.”
