Ciara has hit back at critics regarding her Oscar outfit choice, and claimed that “selective outrage” was to blame.

On Wednesday (March 15), the Texas native posted a video on TikTok to address criticism of her barely-there sheer halter dress that she wore to the Vanity Fair Oscar afterparty. The clip showed the singer covering herself head-to-toe in white sheets, likely as a humorous way of expressing her frustration and calling out the hypocrisy.

As she wrote in the caption of the post, Ciara claims her backlash is the result of “selective outrage.” The cheeky video immediately drew hilarious replies in the comment in the post’s comment section.

“Ciara’s Thought: ‘You happy now?!'” one fan said, while another commented: “Ciara reminding the masses, that she’s that girl, always been that girl and will forever be THAT GIRL! My Queen purrrr.”

A third person added: “P.E.T.T.Y. I love it !!!” with laughing emojis.

In a separate Instagram post made that same day, CiCi put her body on full display, sporting an ultra-tight black bodysuit and high heels. “Get that money sis, keep them on they tip,” she wrote in the post’s caption.

Despite not making an official statement, Ciara appears to not be bothered by the recent controversy, which was spurred by harsh criticism she received online for wearing the bold outfit at a lavish event (many claimed her outfit was inappropriate because she was a “wife and mother”).

Besides provoking conversation and setting edgy fashion trends, the singer has also been working to help others. Most notably, she and husband Russell Wilson helped lead a prayer and worship session for nearly 300 incarcerated men during a recent surprise visit to a maximum security prison.

According to TMZ, the couple visited Everglades Correctional Institution in Florida earlier this month.

A clip posted to God Behind Bars’s Instagram showed the Denver Broncos quarterback and Ciara completely immersing themselves in the experience — Russell was seen reading bible verses before Ciara performed a song. The non-profit assists incarcerated people and their families in finding local churches.

This isn’t the first time the married couple has volunteered their time to help others. The New York Post reported, several days after Wilson was traded to the Broncos from the Seahawks, the pair visited a Children’s hospital.

The couple have been dating since 2016, and officially married in 2018. Ciara has credited her breakup with Future for bringing her life and career much-needed clarity to move forward. The singer and Future were engaged briefly before ending their relationship in 2014.
