Ciara and Derek Jeter are distant cousins, and the singer found out with the rest of the world on a new episode of PBS’ Finding Your Roots.

CiCi was the popular show’s guest for the season premiere on Tuesday (January 2), where she learned that she shares a “long identical stretch of DNA on their 14th chromosome” with the famed MLB star.

“What in the world?” she said upon hearing the news. “You are kidding me. Derek Jeter! That’s crazy.”

Ciara’s husband Russell Wilson also reacted to the news, sharing a clip of his wife finding out and adding, “Always knew it! [laughing emoji] @Yankees Captain! @DerekJeter @Ciara”

Last month, Ciara and Russell welcomed the arrival of their third child.

On December 11, the pair shared a photograph of their newborn on social media and captioned it: “Amora Princess Wilson/ 9lbs 1oz/ We Love You so much!”

The news of their third child together was kept secret until August, when the singer posted an Instagram clip of her hanging poolside and showing off her baby bump through her bathing suit.

In addition to baby Amora, six-year-old Sienna and three-year-old Win with Russ, Ciara is also the mother to nine-year-old Future Zhair, who she co-parents with Future.

During a mid-September chat with The Shade Room, the singer was asked about raising a child with her ex.

“What is co-parenting like for you guys?” asked the host, which Ciara replied to with a long, drawn out cackle, answering the question without uttering a single word.

Ciara and Future were engaged briefly before ending their relationship in 2014, and she has credited the breakup with bringing her life and career much-needed clarity to move forward. The “Level Up” artist reflected on her short-lived relationship with Pluto from 2013 to 2014 in an interview with Women’s Health late last year.

“I told myself I’ve got to figure out how to navigate in the next chapter of my life,” she said. “All the things I was aspiring to have at that time, even thinking about love, I was like, it’s going to happen when it’s supposed to.

“But I can’t love anybody to the best of my ability if I’m not loving on myself. I can’t be the best mom if I’m not loving on myself. So I put more focus on me, taking care of me; it was the best thing I could have done.”
