Chuck D Mocks Donald Trump’s Sneakers: ‘Thinks He Can Get The Black Vote By Dangling Bait’

Chuck D can see right through Donald Trump with his new sneaker line, which the Public Enemy star feels is “bait” for the Black vote.

Trump unveiled the new kicks at Sneaker Con in Philadelphia earlier this month, which prompted Chuck to speak up on Twitter/X on Monday (February 26).

“I ain’t never been a sneaker head,” he wrote with a drawing of what appears to be a Black man holding the new kicks. “I wear em don’t overthink much of em … dude thinks he can get the black vote like the other guy by dangling bait. Lol 2024 we laughed at the possibility of this scenario last century”

When one of his followers replied with a photo of Trump with Muhammad Ali, Don King and Jesse Jackson while claimung that “Ali loved Trump,” Chuck replied: “Love ain’t in none of this when its a photo op , cmon dude.”

Unlike Chuck D, Fat Joe is into Trump’s new drop – though the rapper made it clear he doesn’t support the former president’s politics.

During an Instagram Live stream on Monday (February 26), the “Lean Back” hitmaker defended purchasing the sneakers and insisted that works of art stand by themselves despite the politics of the people behind them.

According to him, it’s no different with the former president, who he also openly disavowed.

“If you collect art, do you really know what [Jean-Michel] Basquiat was into?” he began. “Do you know what Andy Warhol was into? Any of these artists that you was into? You love the art, so you get it. I guess they separate art from the person.

“Now, me as a sneaker collector, I had to get my hand on the Trumps […] But listen, I have thousands and thousands and thousands of pairs of sneakers.

“When everybody flipped on Kanye [West], I went and bought the two most exclusive Kanyes ever.”

He then clarified: “Once again, I’m not a Trumper. I dislike Trump. I’m not voting for him — not now, not never — but I’m a sneaker collector into the art.”

    1. Trump proposed the platinum plan, to invest $500 billion into impoverished, mostly black communities to rejuvenate the infrastructure and business environment, and create new black Wallstreet. The fact is, Trump will help people for votes, so a vote for Trump will benefit you.

      1. The massive tax break he had last time that further dug our debt hole went 99 percent to the wealthiest Americans and corporations. Getting $20 lower taxes per month for a 4 year period while the corporation tax cut saves conglomerates hundreds of millions, which is lost tax revenue for the rest of us… and the corporate taxes don’t expire. Dude literally handed you a couple dollars to help fuck our economy so rich people can make more money… and you think that’s good? He proposed a lot of bullshit last time and most of it turned out to be a lie.

      2. He had 4 years to do it. Never heard him stump for it. Never heard him tell congress to send a bill for it to his desk. But he got those tax breaks and deregulations through quick though. Talk is cheap. Actions matter.

      3. The 2018 tax cuts and jobs act actually lead to higher GDP and MORE tax money taken in overall… learn before you speak. Also, how tf is someone, especially on a hiphop site, gonna complain about giving the government LESS money? We aren’t in debt because of lower taxes. We’re in debt because we’re spending beyond our means. Our military budget is 2x larger than China and Russia combined. Our welfare state is hundreds of billions. We waste money EVERYWHERE. Please don’t talk bad aboit tax cuts. Ever. Everyone should pay less in taxes. And FYI, if we don’t hook up billionaires and large corporations here in USA, they will simply CONTINUE to relocate to foreign enemy nations where they are less regulated.

      4. @gem Lord, you never heard hom talk about it because you’re ignorant and don’t actually pay attention to what you pretend to know about. It was a 2020 proposal, not a bill that was presented. Actions do matter, and idc who you like or not, Trump has a better track record than any for actually doing or trying to do exactly what he said he’d do.

      5. Actually, Trump pushed for permanent tax cuts for all Americans, but congress and the speaker, Paul Ryan, would not pass that. And $20 less in taxes a month lmfao? You only make like $25k a year lol? I saved over $4k in taxes in 2019 compared to before the tax breaks. You’re obviously very poor, so you no economy, good ot bad matters for you. You’re covered by hard workers, like me.

    2. Wait… now cool sneakers are black person bait? I thought sneaker culture was a bit of everyone. Hell, doesn’t every young man wear sneakers?
