Chicago Rapper AAB Hellabandz Shot & Killed In Miami Beach

AAB Hellabandz, a rapper from Chicago, was killed in a shooting outside of a Miami Beach nightclub on Saturday (May 11). Police identified Hellabandz, whose real name is Ameer Golston, as the victim on Sunday afternoon (May 12), according to CBS Miami.

Lil Durk was among the first to publicly mourn the late artist’s death on social media.

“Rip to my dawg,” he wrote on Twitter. “love you 4ever hella Bandz.”

Hellabandz was one of two victims shot outside the Cameo nightclub around 2:30 a.m. Saturday. The other man is currently in stable condition at Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center and expected to survive.

An officer in the area heard gunshots and saw two cars flee from the scene. Cops pursued a third car suspected of being involved in the shooting, but the pursuit ended when two of the police’s vehicles crashed.

“A potential subject vehicle was located not far from the scene. While another fled, a pursuit ensued,” the Miami Beach Police Department said in a statement to NBC Miami. “Our officer witnessed an occupant display a firearm from within the vehicle and later lost sight of that vehicle. A third vehicle was located near 83 Street and Collins Avenue which also fled.”

Miami Beach PD spokesman Ernesto Rodriguez said the third suspect was able to escape. The officers involved in the crash suffered minor injuries.

    1. And im sure i could go on his gram and find him threatening somebody hours or days prior to the incident suchs stupid fucking shit

      1. I’m sure your a real live scared little bitch in real life… always looking for the negative.

      1. It’s one thing to be a pathetic attention seeking lame.. it another to also not be funny in seeking to do so

    2. RIP bro. We gotta stop all the violence in these streets and killing each other. Moment of silence……….Now I’ma head to the studio and make another 10 songs about killing my own kind and criminal activities.

    3. When you call on that energy that’s exactly what the universe gives back smh and these dumbass youngbols think that shits cute. Fuck that corporate sponsored bullshit (Drill trap mumble rap)… The beats are prolly just as redundant as reggaeton yaaaaaaaawn… RIP to the youngin

      1. I was thinking the same thing about the beats. Redundant like reggae or go-go beats. Trap beats consists of the same basic electronic hi-hat, kick, and snare pattern. And those surburban kids are addicted to it. It’s their validation that they aren’t square as if there is something wrong with being middle-class. Those surburban girls were literally showing their ass for the ‘culture’. They were wearing clothes their parents had no idea that they packed.

    4. RIP to the FOLK!! I hope street fam takes care of this and put all worries to rest! One love

      1. No other genre promotes violence. It’s sad b/c i love hip hop. However, the culture is built on rebellion. It used to be rebellious towards style of dress or the system. Then it started being rebellious towards one another. Rap is the only genre of music where we DISS one another. We disrespect and put another down so we can be great. Never heard The Temptations diss the OJays. So rap and the hip hop culture is overall destructive and needs to change. I’m an Old Head and it’s sad to realize how hip hop has destruction woven into it and it has become the main focus. Focus on a variety of topics not just the sex & violence which sells . That’s my $.02

        1. This isn’t on the Hip Hop culture, though. The streets and hood culture influence the music. There are countless instances where Hip Hop has been a unifier for fun, harmony and artistic talent and this isn’t that. And will never be that either.

    5. It doesn’t pay to be a rap artist in today’s society. The fame and fortune is nice, but the price of it just makes it not worth it. RIP Hellabandz and every artist that has lost their lives due to gun violence.

      1. Is it so much being a rap artist?.. Or is it just how u move…. Lots or rap artists out there living they life… But when you bring elements of criminal language and mentality into the mix.. It would seem to up the chances of you being a vic based on your movements.. Dont blame the art..question the artist.

    6. Yeah. Yeah. Who cares. Rappers get killed every month now. Why is this news? I’ll be glad went they’re ALL done killing each other off. Then it will be a played out popular fad, like funk or disco. Then maybe all the suburban white kids can go back to listening to rock music again.

          1. Seriously you are a racist and a liar. Just be honest please, bit of fantasy stuff in your strong black statement

    7. Hip-hop is not the reason these rappers are getting shot. The reason is that they are involved in the streets to a certain level and things turn on them for some reason. Hip-hop is actually supposed the ticket from the streets into a more socially acceptable lifestyle. So I disagree with the brother who says that rap/hip hop is to blame. Any profession you are in has a level of risks and insecurity involved. And if you really are hip hop fan, you will know that its far more than money, hoes and drugs.

A billion dollar industry that has turned into a political platform and an opportunity for minorities to earn, be employed and employ others.

    8. This has nothing to do with rap or hiphop. It has everything to do with gang and street culture. Break the cycle. Even when they make money to leave the hood, they stay in the hood and continue to live that life.
