Chet Hanx issued an apology yesterday (September 30) for defending his use of the n-word.
“I know a lot of y’all kinda understood the point I was trying to make,” he says in an Instagram video, “but the truth is, it’s not my place to speak on that and I’m genuinely sorry for the people that I offended.”
The rapper formerly known as Chet Haze says that he just got out of rehab for cocaine addiction.
“A couple months ago, I was selling coke, doing coke until I couldn’t even snort it up my nose anymore because it was so clogged,” he says. “I even smoked crack. If I can change, you can change. There is a solution.”
He says that one factor that drove him to addiction was trying to live up to his father, Tom Hanks.
“At the end of the day, all this stupid shit I was doing, that’s not who I am,” he says. “That’s not who I want to be. It’s been a long journey discovering who I am because of all the pressures I’ve dealt with in my life being the son of my dad and everything just trying to find where I fit in.”
I can respect someone who can take responsibility for his own actions and admit wrongdoing. No hard feelings bruh.
I’m glad he stopped using the word, white ppl should never use it. With that said, I don’t feel sorry for his, I was born rich, with a famous father, having ass. Most ppl would kill to have the opportunities he had. You fucked up your own life, point blank.
The bigger issue is… people still do coke?
Dude…. I dont know how old you are, but these days kids are gettin F’ed up on Prescription Pills…. how wack can they get?
Heroine is #1 right now. Here in st.louis you will see 12-13 year olds on heroine, people dropping dead from left to right.
Cocaine is a hell of a drug!
This isn’t mere pedantry but, has anyone else noticed that Chester said: “I genuinely feel sorry FOR the people I offended”?
Not, sorry for the offence I may have caused. Feeling sorry for people is pity. A different sentiment to apologising for, and owning wrongdoing.
Although Chester’s using the language of supplicancy around that particular sentence, I can’t help feeling that in reality, in Chester’s mind – he just perpetrated a massive Up Yours sandwich. I can’t help feeling that Chester’s making fun of us, in a way that he feels is audaciously clever.
Maybe I’m just conflicted as, I also agree with the comments made by Fedgi and Tru.
blkmoves, I’m in agreement with you too.
