Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion have been given their flowers by actress Pam Grier, who said she’s even writing a role for one of the rap stars.

The ’70s blaxploitation film legend is best known for her work in Foxy Brown and Quentin Tarantino’s 1997 film Jackie Brown,, and is currently the focus of the fourth season of TCM’s The Plot Thickens podcast.

During a conversation with Rolling Stone‘s Rob Sheffield, Grier revealed that she’s working on getting Cardi B involved in an upcoming project.

“I’m writing something for me and Cardi B,” she said. “I love Cardi and ‘WAP.’ I love Megan Thee Stallion. I told her, ‘You and your artistry are beautiful. People are gonna punk you because a stallion is a male horse, but there’s some really foxy mares!…She’s really good. She went to college.”

She continued: “You got to have your goals. You’re gonna have haters, you’re gonna have jealousy, but just do your art, do your passion from your heart. [Megan] and Lizzo and Nicki Minaj and some of the others, they know — you gotta make your own style. You get to hire people later.

“But you come up with your own stuff, then you just draw people like a magnet, so collaborators make you greater and greater. I want them to find that.”

The inspiring comments come shortly after Megan Thee Stallion emerged victorious in her contentious criminal trial against Tory Lanez, who last week was found guilty of shooting the Houston rapper in the feet in July 2020.

Lanez was convicted on all three counts — felony assault with a semiautomatic firearm, possession of a concealed, unregistered firearm and discharging a firearm with gross negligence — and faces up to 22 years and eight months in prison, as well as deportation to Canada. He is due to be sentenced next month.

The high-profile trial was filled with memorable moments throughout its 10-day run. Megan’s former friend and assistant Kelsey Harris was been expected to corroborate Megan’s account of the shootin, but instead delivered a statement that directly contradicted her testimony.

Megan Thee Stallion told the court that Tory had offered her $1 million in exchange for her silence about what took place on the night of July 12, 2020, whereas Harris told both the prosecution and the defense that Tory Lanez never offered her any money.

witness named Sean Kelly added a new angle with his testimony, alleging that he saw a woman shoot first while Lanez was still in the vehicle. “I believe I saw the girl shoot first,” he said. “[But] I believed it was fireworks.”

He also said Tory Lanez appeared to shoot as well. “I just saw he was very angry, shouting, and then the flashes then came from him. I never saw a gun,” Kelly said. “They were all fighting, so I just assumed he grabbed the gun.”

As for Cardi B, she recently had to deal with a few haters of her own and admitted it’s starting to affect the rollout of her highly anticipated sophomore album.

“Making music to me has become like a job that gives me anxiety because everybody just critiques everything that I do,” she said on Instagram Live earlier this month.

“Sometimes you don’t want to do something that gives you that much anxiety, so I just be freezing myself, but I have to let that go. I have to release more music — I have to go out there.”
