Busta Rhymes Claims Next Album Is His “Most Compelling” Ever

Busta Rhymes has been talking about a new album for years. Last July, he posted multiple photos to Instagram that all included “album soon come” in the caption. Now, the Hip Hop stalwart tells Billboard this almost mythical album will top his discography, which was capped off with 2012’s Year of the Dragon.

After delivering “Get It” featuring Missy Elliott and Kelly Rowland on Friday (February 2), it appears another Bus-a-Bus album is on its way but, for now, he’s keeping the details to himself.

“The only thing I am going to say is that this is definitely going to be my most compelling body of work that I’ve ever put together. I haven’t dropped an album in retail since 2009. I am really proud of this project. I was very patient with it and took my time. Patience was probably one of my greatest weapons when putting this project together, because there was things I ended up stumbling on that ended up on the album years into the recording.

“I’ve been working on this album on and off for nine years,” he added. “There’s going to be an announcement made soon on the title and we should definitely be having this album drop before the midway point of 2018.”

Busta also spoke on his upcoming Mountain Dew commercial with the aforementioned Supa Dupa Fly MC, Peter Dinklage and Morgan Freeman that’s expected to air during Super Bowl LII on Sunday (February 4).

“It’s an incredible moment and I’m definitely proud of it,” he says. “I think it’s the hottest commercial on the planet. I feel that it’s one of the best commercials in Super Bowl history. It doesn’t get more incredible than [Missy Elliott], Peter Dinklage and Morgan Freeman coming together.

“Our culture of Hip Hop is being properly represented,” he continues. “It’s a great bag of energy and vibes. I loved doing it — the experience on the set was incredible and watching people’s energy over it was even more fulfilling for me. I’m basking in the moment.”

    1. The Earth is Flat, busta is a satanic puppet/sellout HIPHOPDX pushes their satanic agenda. AND I STILL TYPE IN HIPHOPDX.COM just to see all these sellouts i used to ‘look up to’ and what type of satanic foolishness they trying to distract all the SHEEP with

      1. your a sheep and just as satanic as them if you keep up with who does what pertaining to the satanic foolishness…bet you ain’t know that kings james bible you read is satanic

    2. That’s a pretty low bar. Busta has never made a truly class album, and given his lazy rhyme schemes and terrible songs/albums over the last two decades, I can’t imagine anyone looking forward to this.

        1. The first three are NOT classics, but lazy rhyme schemes? Busta is one of the greastest to ever do it. C’mon buddy, he is KNOWN to annihilate every feature he has ever been on. You don’t get that reputation from having a “lazy rhyme scheme”.

    3. bustas first three albums are hiphop classics. Genesis & Big Bang were dope too. dunno what u talkin bout.

    4. My grandpa was a huge Busta Rhymes fan. He used to recite his lyrics to me, as he struggled for air. Grotesquely overweight, the fluid in his legs reducing him to a pathetic cripple, he would work for days to struggle up the energy to say, “WOO HAA!… I got you all in check!” I never knew how much it meant to me until he was gone. He died from being fat and a piece of shit, much like me. Anyway. Looking forward to this.

      1. I remember it well; I used to beat him senseless because he would spit up trying to say the rhymes and I could not control the urge to hammer fist his old, dry face. You are a fat POS but you are nowhere near the level of scumbag he was. I miss knocking him out of his bed and then turning the lights off and making him find his way back- only to repeat again

    5. The Coming is a classic but its a different day and age now.

Its going to be pop rap trash like everything else he’s done since his 2nd album.

    6. Busta was my favourite when I was a kid. His flow, voice and incredible music videos had me hooked. Looking forward to this even though his last efforts been sub par.

    7. I swear when the dreads went so did his talent, honestly. Since then he has struggled to stay relevant because every time I turn around Bussa Buss is trying to imitate what the kids got going on when he use to be the innovator.

    8. If he continues the trend he was on from last atcq album and his two abstract efforts with qtip its gonna be dope.
If he continues down that back on my bs and year of the dragon path shit is gonna be terrible.

    9. Dude gonna throw his mountain dew in some guys face in a commercial sports drink style? A new album would be fire though hopefuly it lives up to the classics from busta bus dont eminem it man

    10. Not a good look for an album to have 9 year old content on it. Will def sound dated and following trends from a decade ago.

      1. How do you know? Have you heard it? I can name hundreds of albums made 10, 15, 25 years ago – and it still sounds dated and relevant for today. Best example of that is Dr. Dre’s The Chronic (2001).
