Boosie Badazz has admitted he isn’t well-versed in Eminem’s decorated discography because people from Baton Rouge don’t listen to his music.
In an interview with Cam Capone News on Tuesday (February 20), the Louisiana rap legend was asked about Dr. Umar’s controversial claim that Em can’t be considered one of the greatest rappers of all time because he’s white.
“Where I’m from, we don’t listen to Eminem,” Boosie said. “I’m from the trenches. I never heard nobody come into my project playing Eminem. I’ma keep it real.”
Boosie went on to praise Slim Shady’s skills on the mic, but reiterated that his music simply doesn’t resonate in the hood in his hometown.
“When I hear him, I say, ‘He can rap.’ I always say that,” he continued. “I used to like that song ‘Slim Shady.’ But where I’m from? I’ve never heard one song in my project. I never heard Eminem not one time in the speakers in my project. None of my friends never said, ‘Play that new Eminem.’ I only saw him on MTV, you know, TV.”
The “Wipe Me Down” spitter also acknowledged that taste is highly subjective and everybody has different favorites.
“Everybody has their greats. If you put 10 people lined up on this couch, everybody gon’ tell you five different greats,” he said. “Eminem’s music has touched a lot of people. DMX‘s music has touched a lot of people.
“DMX is in my Top 5 ’cause I always felt, listening to his music, that he really lived that. Even though I wasn’t from New York, my street n-ggas still saluted him and played his music.”
Boosie Badazz made similar comments about fellow rap icons JAY-Z and Nas in 2022 when he claimed that their music isn’t as “relevant” today as it once was.
In one of his many interviews with VladTV, he said: “I don’t think JAY-Z is relevant this day for music. When I go to these clubs in Atlanta, these 25 to 35 clubs, I’m not hearing Nas, I’m not hearing JAY-Z. Every club I’m going, it’s not one or the other, Vlad.
“I’m in the city, I’m outside, I be everywhere! It’s not one or the other, Vlad. I’m telling you that.”
Boosie went on to claim that JAY-Z only catches people’s attention these days for one reason: his shrewd business moves.
“JAY-Z is respected by these people for being that boss that he is,” he added. “When JAY-Z flash across that muthafucka, it’s something with $1 billion, it’s something with $500 billion, $200 billion when them young n-ggas see him.
“It ain’t his songs flashing across no fucking social media. It’s his hustle. That n-gga got hustle! No, I’m not finna say that I hear JAY-Z in the club and I don’t hear Nas.”
Who cares? Live your life. There’s plenty of people who listen to him. Just because something doesn’t get played in a club!!. People listen to Nas..jayz Eminem at home. Some people are just brain dead.
Clown, I’m from B.R and I definitely listen to Eminem!
That’s funny because I never any Boosie Badazz in my hood either. Carry on!!!
They don’t play hood music in suburbia my dude. Carry on!!!
That is absolute cap.
Only swamp people in Baton Rouge listen to little boosie
Who gives a fuck about a boosie take on anything? Are you people stupid? The fuck IS wrong with y’all
Been listening to hip hop for 30 years, all kinds of artists. I genuinely can’t name 3 Boosie songs. Not hating, he just not on my radar for music as he is for interviews or things like that. But I grew up in west phoenix (hood) and Eminem was fucking hot. Funny line I like that Em spit one time was yea you sold 10 million records but you made 10 million albums. lol
Truth be told, I’ve never heard a Lil Boosie song in any club that I’ve been in either.
these eminem stans are so easily triggered and at this point that’s why rap dudes see a bag in dropping dis records on the dude. guaranteed streams! lol
eminem is more pop than rap. Hip-Pop. that’s just the reality of it. Some artists do collabs with Kool g rap and Rakim. Others do collabs with Pink and Rhianna.
Nobody listens to Boosie either. At least nobody under 40 anyways. It’s either NBA YoungBoy, Future, Gunna, Lil Uzi Vert. I’ve always wondered if this generation is on the spectrum and now I finally have my answer. Yes
eminem is more pop than rap. Hip-Pop. that’s just the reality of it. Some artists do collabs with Kool g rap and Rakim. Others do collabs with Pink and Rhianna.
All this guy does is talk but no rap
His raps sound like collapsed farts in reverse. Not missing much there.
Ain’t nobody playin eminem in any hood. Je great but ain’t nobody from the hood bumpin that shit
Well, I doubt I’d ever hear Led Zepplin or ACDC playing in the projects either… they generally have a very narrow avenue of music they listen to. Mostly hunky street rap.
The projects aren’t “the trenches”. The projects are taxpayer funded housing that provides for losers who don’t go to work and make a living because they’re weak mentally and physically. The trenches are more like how the impoverished live in 3rd world countries. The only reason the projects suck in USA is because the people themselves suck. If the people were good, the projects would be similar to any apartments nationwide.
This the most ignorant comment I have ever read in my life. That because a person lives in the projects does not make them weak in any type of way. Some of the most strongest and successful people came from the projects. Do your research my dude before you say some stupid shit like that again. Only loser is you.
Okay, so being dependent on others to survive… isnt… weakness? Wtf lol. Of course it is. If you’re an able bodied adult and need others to take care of you, you are a loser and weak.
You sound slow dumb and stupid with tht bullshyt statement we can tell your a true keyboard warrior since those ppl are so weak I dare you to step foot in any real projects and tell the ppl their they are weak and see what happens
Truth!!!! Talk that truth Boosie!!!
🤡
If youre black and want attention just mention eminem
And nobody in any hood in the world listens to Boosie Badazz, absolutely nobody
The ain’t right I live in BR and everywhere you go you can hear people bumppin Eminem. I don’t know what he is hearing or if he just plain ole ain’t listening. They play eminem all the time around Baton Rouge so this one guys I would have to say is BOOSIE IS BUSTED!!!! AGAIN OOPS DID I SAY THAT OUT LOUD.
