Boosie Badazz has admitted he isn’t well-versed in Eminem’s decorated discography because people from Baton Rouge don’t listen to his music.

In an interview with Cam Capone News on Tuesday (February 20), the Louisiana rap legend was asked about Dr. Umar’s controversial claim that Em can’t be considered one of the greatest rappers of all time because he’s white.

“Where I’m from, we don’t listen to Eminem,” Boosie said. “I’m from the trenches. I never heard nobody come into my project playing Eminem. I’ma keep it real.”

Boosie went on to praise Slim Shady’s skills on the mic, but reiterated that his music simply doesn’t resonate in the hood in his hometown.

“When I hear him, I say, ‘He can rap.’ I always say that,” he continued. “I used to like that song ‘Slim Shady.’ But where I’m from? I’ve never heard one song in my project. I never heard Eminem not one time in the speakers in my project. None of my friends never said, ‘Play that new Eminem.’ I only saw him on MTV, you know, TV.”

The “Wipe Me Down” spitter also acknowledged that taste is highly subjective and everybody has different favorites.

“Everybody has their greats. If you put 10 people lined up on this couch, everybody gon’ tell you five different greats,” he said. “Eminem’s music has touched a lot of people. DMX‘s music has touched a lot of people.

DMX is in my Top 5 ’cause I always felt, listening to his music, that he really lived that. Even though I wasn’t from New York, my street n-ggas still saluted him and played his music.”

Boosie Badazz made similar comments about fellow rap icons JAY-Z and Nas in 2022 when he claimed that their music isn’t as “relevant” today as it once was.

In one of his many interviews with VladTV, he said: “I don’t think JAY-Z is relevant this day for music. When I go to these clubs in Atlanta, these 25 to 35 clubs, I’m not hearing Nas, I’m not hearing JAY-Z. Every club I’m going, it’s not one or the other, Vlad.

“I’m in the city, I’m outside, I be everywhere! It’s not one or the other, Vlad. I’m telling you that.”

Boosie went on to claim that JAY-Z only catches people’s attention these days for one reason: his shrewd business moves.

“JAY-Z is respected by these people for being that boss that he is,” he added. “When JAY-Z flash across that muthafucka, it’s something with $1 billion, it’s something with $500 billion, $200 billion when them young n-ggas see him.

“It ain’t his songs flashing across no fucking social media. It’s his hustle. That n-gga got hustle! No, I’m not finna say that I hear JAY-Z in the club and I don’t hear Nas.”
