Boosie Badazz wants to see the NBA make Kobe Bryant the new logo for the league.
Following the shocking death of the former Los Angeles Lakers star, Boosie called on the NBA to switch its longtime logo featuring a silhouette of Basketball Hall of Famer Jerry West to a version sporting Bryant’s likeness.
“It’s only right that the NBA take Jerry West off the logo and put Kobe Bryant on the logo,” he said in an Instagram video. “That’s only right, man. Fuck that. You gotta put Kobe Bryant on the NBA logo, man. This shit sad, man.”
Boosie added, “HOW I FEEL FUCK DAT #ripkobe PUT HIM ON THE NBA LOGO NOW #petitionthisshit,” in the post’s caption.
Bryant, along with his 13-year-old daughter Gianna and seven other passengers, passed away in a fatal helicopter crash on Sunday (January 26). The group was en route to a youth basketball tournament at the Mamba Sports Academy in Thousand Oaks, California.
West, the basketball legend currently immortalized as the NBA’s logo, played a pivotal role in Bryant’s career. As the general manager of the Los Angeles Lakers, West brought Bryant to the iconic franchise in a 1996 draft day trade with the Charlotte Hornets.

In an interview with ABC News, West detailed how he acted like a “surrogate father” to the late NBA star when Bryant began his pro career straight out of high school. He also shared how deeply the loss of Bryant affected him.
“The only thing I can compare it to is I had a brother killed in Korea,” West said. “I’m just devastated by this news.”

I too agree with Boosie. I was just saying the same thing this morning before this was even posted . It would be a great idea of service done so by the NBA. I also believe it will bring new fans to the game.
what about MJ? We love Mamba, but MJ is still the standard when it comes to the NBA. Also, what is the point of changing the logo when a man has passed on? Humans have this infatutation with honoring people when they are gone and when they cant even accept the honour. What if Mamba never wanted to be a logo? Does his feelings matter at this point?

Its really sad that people get recognition after they die. Why didn’t you ask for the logo to be changed when Mamba was still alive. He was great but how can one ever justify using Mamba instead of Jordan as the logo, it doesn’t make sense.

I’m not mad at Boosie’s suggestion but I think that it is a emotional response in the wake of tragedy. Kobe is directly connected to the logo because Jerry West (“The Logo”) acquired Kobe from the Hornets to make him a Laker. Now if Jerry West makes that request then you can consider changing it. Whatever your opinion is that’s okay but what I don’t understand is why all the back and forth. I just lost my brother this year and Kobe is my favorite athlete ever. Life is too precious and time can’t wait for us to be better to one another. I love this site and I love constructive, funny and positive comments. Dumb, the logo has been around forever and is part of nba branding. To change everything would be expensive and wasteful. Kobe will always be a legend but the nba isn’t his creation
