Boosie Badazz has cited two of his biggest hits from the past year to emphasize that he’s worthy of music’s highest accolades, while also suggesting the powers that be might not be ready for his authenticity.
On Thursday (December 28), the Baton Rouge rapper shared music video clips of from “Rocket Man” and “Black & Beautiful” on Twitter.

Last year, Boosie paid tribute to the late TakeOff on “Rocket Man.” The track hit streaming services in mid-Novemeber, two weeks after the Migos rapper was tragically shot and killed in Houston.
On the joint, the Louisiana native gets candid about the dark cloud hovering over Hip Hop and how upsetting it is that rappers are continually being targeted in their own communities.
“No, it’s a roof but these stars say where my ceilin’ at/ Can’t too many stitch Boss Mane on they fitted cap/ Rappers used to be heroes, now they shoot us down like we free throws/ Like killin’ a rapper the G Code,” he raps.
Boosie echoed a similar sentiment in a video posted to his social media following TakeOff’s murder, wherein he spoke about how rappers used to be looked at as “heroes” rather than targets.
