It’s been a full year since Bobby Shmurda has been a free man and there still is no full-length project out. Fans have been yearning for Bobby to drop new material, and besides a few loose singles with “No Time For Sleep (Freestyle),” “Cartier Lens,” “Splash” and “Shmoney,” the public wants more.
On Thursday (February 10), the Brooklyn rapper took to his Instagram once again to address fans wondering what’s taking so long to release his long-awaited debut studio album. According to Bobby, the people running the show at his label Epic Records are holding things up.
“I got a 70 year old lady running my label And I love her dearly but doesn’t want to let me go At allllllllllll no Matter what I do I’ve been Sign to them since was 19 I did six years in jail tryign to get off this label before I came home,” Bobby wrote in the since-deleted post. “You name one person in the industry a Lable keeps sign in jail for six years?????? yea Ik ik I made them more millions than they ever gave me!!! Just let me gooo.”
At 69 years young, Sylvia Rhone, CEO of Epic Records is a music industry legend but Bobby can’t quite understand why she won’t let him out of his contract despite the two having a solid relationship. The “Hot N-gga” rapper shed more light on his situation in the caption of his post explaining he’s been handling everything on his own with no help from Epic, yet he feels they’re still controlling him.
“This is not a cry for help this is a message and understanding for my fans that they stopping my music and prolonging my career I been holding shit down doing everything on my own since I been home,” Bobby wrote in the caption. “It’s been ah year now I still fee like I’m in prison and by the way the Album’s done ready to live pleaseeeeeeeee I need them to let me goooooooo!!! #FreeShmurda.”
Bobby spoke on this situation back in December when he posted and deleted comments about not having any control over his music.
“I ain’t been in charge of my music since I was 19 years old and I jus turned 27 and honestly idk when shit dropping so don’t ask me shit go ask them mf’s since they wanna control everything!!!!!!” Bobby wrote.
He should’ve never been given a deal in the first place. Besides, don’t nobody want to see or hear anything from Bobby Buttcheeks. (Pause)
Stop doing gay sh*t and maybe they’d let you release your music. If you want to do all the fruity BS then sign with 300 Ent or Bad Boy Records.
There isn’t a chance in hell he can make enough good songs to even have a full album. Dudes music is trizzzzzyyyyyy trash besides his first song which was over a recycled beat anyway. Yea that song literally made that summer awesome af but yea. No one is checking for a bobby shmurdah song
All that shuckin’ and jivin’ he did in front of those white executives, and this the mf’n thanks he gets?!!
Prince tried to tell them
You went to prison and cost them money, whatever buzz you had at that time is long gone. This is they way of payback you stupid fruity mf
