Birdman has gone by many different nicknames throughout his career but he’s decided to make a change to his government name in 2023.

The Cash Money Records co-founder took to social media earlier this week to announce that he’ll be going by Bryan Brooks instead of Bryan Williams which should be legally finalized in the first quarter of next year.

“In February 2023, I won’t be Williams no more. I’ll be Bryan Christopher Brooks,” he explained. “He a Patterson, I’m a Williams. 2023 I’m changing my name.

“I was born Bryan Brooks. My momma died and my daddy came and got me out the foster home and I became a Williams and I love him with every piece of my soul, but 2023 I want to die Bryan Brooks.”

Birdman isn’t the only person in rap to change their name in recent years. Kanye West shortened his name to Ye last year after Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Michelle Williams approved his request in October 2021. In the legal filing, Kanye cited “personal reasons” for making the switch.

“I believe Ye is the most commonly used word in the Bible,” he said. “And in the Bible, it means, ‘You.’ I’m all of you.”

In other Stunna news, he paid his former protégé B.G. a prison visit earlier this month. A video was uploaded to B.G.’s official Instagram page documenting Birdman’s journey to the Federal Correctional Institution in Herlong, California, where the former Hot Boys member has been incarcerated since 2012.

At the end of the video soundtracked by B.G.’s 1999 single “Cash Money Is An Army” — which only shows Birdman’s arrival and departure — a caption appears stating: “In the end, they will call you a lot of things. Just make sure solid is one of them.”

While rumors have circulated about B.G. getting released early, he’s still currently slated not to regain his freedom until April 7, 2024.

“Just know when my feet hit these streets you gonna hear it here first #RNS,” he wrote. “I appreciate all the luv and well wishes [prayer hands emoji] But when that day comes I promise it’s gonna be #WorthTheWAIT”
