Big Daddy Kane, who first made the scene over twenty years ago, has long been considered one of Hip Hops most influential and consistent artists, impacting emcees that were just children when he was at his commercial peak. The rap elder statesman now plans to release an album that showcases the music that influenced him. The record is titled The Last Supper and its set to feature a full, live band sound.
B.D.K. spoke with GoWhereHipHop recently. During the interview the Brooklyn born rapper gave some details about the forthcoming album: “I got a live album I’m doing with my whole band featuring my man Showtime who sings with Pharoahe Monch. It’s a Hip Hop/Soul album really paying homage to ’60s and ’70s Soul and ’80s Hip Hop.” The album is also set to feature funk group Connie Price and the Keystones. No release date has been set as of now.
During the interview Kane also gave his impression on what it’s like to be one of the godfathers of Hip Hop observing where the game is today: “When you see kids doing that 20 years later, it makes me feel old as hell. Other than that, it’s a beautiful thing. You appreciate any sort of adoration on any level. It’s beautiful to still be able to do what I do.”
Big Daddy Kane has not released an album since 1998’s Veteranz Day.

Nobody wants a fucking live album. Give us a REAL album.
Hey moron! It just means its a live band, its still a studio album…
This sounds GREAT. If you’re a hip-hop head and ever held a guitar, you’ve probably thought about how fun it would be to play Set It Off. I’ve never seen anyone really fuck up the full band set-up, so i’m hopeful.
that verse on game’s history, he was spittin. if he keeps rappin like that he’d be big again.
I’m a cop me some BDK lyrical shit!!!
I’ll believe it when I see it. This has been talked about for over 2 years.
