Beyoncé & JAY-Z Award Once-Homeless Teen $100K College Scholarship

Kanye West gave a homeless man $100 earlier this week but apparently Beyoncé and JAY-Z just one-uped him. On Thursday night (October 4), teenager Khairi Perry attended the Seattle stop on the power couple’s On The Run II Tour and left with a $100,000 college scholarship.

According to the News Tribune, the once-homeless teen Perry received the funds from the BeyGood and Shawn Carter Foundations.

“Even when I got older and started to understand my situation, I still didn’t ask questions because I figured no one could answer them,” Perry told the Federal Way Mirror in 2017. “I would try to find an answer myself. When that was a dead end, it was school and sports that were there for me.”

Now a senior at Thomas Jefferson High School, Perry was recently named the King County Youth of the Year for the Boys and Girls Club and earned a $2,000 scholarship as a result.

Perry is one of 11 high school seniors from across the U.S. who were given $100,000 scholarships from Hov and Beyoncé.

In a video posted on Beyonce.com, Perry expressed his surprise and gratitude.

“I’m so grateful. I feel so empowered,” Perry said. “I’ll be able to go to college. Any college I want … if you have a dream, follow it.”

    1. Great couple! I love and deeply respect their sense of self-awareness and dedication to community. Stay blessed Jay and Bey!

    2. I love King HOV so much nothing but power moves. He can donate $100k and milk it for publicity of dudes donating millions like The Game, Chance the Rapper, Nicki Minaj, Eminem, Snoop and Kendrick. That’s why King HOV keeps his money and Nas will always stay broke. ROC for life!
