Bay Area rapper Lil Yase was reportedly shot and killed on Saturday morning (November 28), adding to the growing list of rappers who have been gunned down in 2020.
According to TMZ, the body of 25-year-old Lil Yase (whose real name was Mark Antony Alexander), was found in the southern section of the East Bay, a region that encompasses Oakland. The puzzling kicker is Lil Yase is said to have told his friends he would “right back” during a Friday late-night studio session in Marin County — a region north of San Francisco.
Despite the street nature of his raps, friends and associates reportedly told TMZ Lil Yase had no ongoing beefs. His last Instagram post, uploaded just a day before his untimely demise, may contradict that as he wrote, “If my n**** trippin den I’m trippin it’s up wit #HappyThanksGiving”
Lil Yase made a name for himself circa 2016 when he was profiled in an article for The Fader titled “Surviving The Last Days Of San Francisco Rap.” In the story, he detailed his intent to move to Los Angeles because the scene was “more popping.” Some of his past collaborators include Sage The Gemini, Mozzy, Nef The Pharoah and Shoreline Mafia.
His upcoming EP Everyday Is Friday!, a collaborative effort with fellow San Fran rapper Itsfatfat, was just announced on Friday.
As news of his death spread, multiple West Coast Hip Hop personalities such as AzChike, 92.3’s DJ Charisma and All Money In’s J Stone flooded his comments to pay their respects.
This story is currently developing. Check below for some of the reactions behind his purported murder.
Another one bites the dust. RIP. Ill check out his music even though I never heard of him.
How kind of you “real talk”
Damn another one. Y’all killing each other more the police are. Need to chill with the gunplay and gangbanging for real.
So impoverished areas lead to people getting killed, especially during a pandemic when everyone is frustrated as shit? You don’t say? I’m shocked the literal crackhead generation (meaning their mothers were on crack and other substances while they were in the womb) have no value of life. This is so shocking. We need to get to the bottom of this shit. This meth head baby era is going to be a motherfucker.
The Bay Area has some underground heat man. Nef the Pharoah is a monster, but these guys live that life man. Can’t be surprised. I hate it and sick of the Twitter shout outs. Something’s gotta change.
My cousin and I were talking about this with a dude we know who got killed the other night. Why do people go to these people’s social media talking to them like they can see that shit? It’s silly as fuck. They’re dead.
They got IG in Hell.
Lemme guess, he was killed by white cops and its Trump’s fault. Black Lives Matter though, right? #Trump2020 #MAGA #ElectionsAreRigged
Nothing was rigged. Your president didnt want people to panic so he stayed quiet and let half of his elderly voters die from covid. That combined with young first time voters who just filled out a ballot and mailed it (no stupid line) was enough to put Biden over the top. All the rust belt swing voters Trump duped 4 years ago also dumped him. (Bring coal back lol) The numbers were just too much. No conspiracy. Just simple math. But not republicans hate math like they hate science. BTW, Lil Pump had a song called Obama, lol.
Why don’t you stfu….I hate you people so much and I wish you the worse death. All you can do is troll because you’re a b**ch . I pray that you die in the worse way. I pray that you are crucified and tortured. I hate you.
That’s a great way to deal with what you perceive as racism and discriminatory. Dude makes a valid point, although I don’t agree with him. There is obviously an issue with black men murdering black men. The counter argument of most races kill within their own race is null and void if you take in what percentage of the population black Americans are, and at ware age and percentage per capita they kill each other. A black man is over 300X more likely to be murdered than any other race/gender in America. It is strange that BLM doesn’t have the same energy to tackle that, I DO think if they did it would make a HUGE difference. For some reason this opinion is seen as racist or discriminatory. This jackass was saying it as a joke and a way to put down black people in general as hypocrites. I’m bringing this up because I generally care, and would like to see this stop. I’ve had over 10 personal close friends die due to gun violence. All except for one were black or Latino. Cops are aware of these stats and treat black people accordingly. It is a sad truth that no one wants to tackle in a supportive manner. I also think it’s very weird that you call dude a homosexual. Like that’s an insult or something. Peace brother. I hope you can help others get on the right side of all of this n end these senseless killings. I also think BLM should tackle education for tge youth to avoid the biggest genocide occurring in the US at this time. Our prisons.
More like #mag. It’s never been great. There’s still hope though. The harsh reality is Trump is a loser. He never should have been the voice of conservatives across America. He’s damaged Republicans and America.
I never read any articles about this rapper on this site nor interviews. So why is this site promoting him now?
Starting to think Mozzy is the sacrifice king. Every collab he do catch a body
Getting shot/killed is a hot topic right now. That’s the only reason
He did a colab w quando recently that brother start being extra cautious
Wtf goin on
fuck this shit.
Another black on black murder, not a huge surprise.
This isn’t a way to out anyone down or a joke. I wish BLM would tackle this issue as well. It would make a HUGE difference. There obviously is a problem with murder amongst young black men. I know all of the counter arguments. Murders are usually within the same race etc. still, a young black man is 300X more likely to get murdered than anyone else. I also wish they could somehow educate young men and women as to the risk vs. reward of crime in general, mandatory minimum laws etc so we could avoid the mass slavery occurring in the US penal systems. The numbers are horrific and no one is willing to tackle the issue. R.I.P. to this young man. My condolences to his family and friends.
