B.o.B took to Twitter this weekend to air his frustrations with Atlantic Records.
“There’s a ban on BoB,” the Atlanta rapper writes in a series of posts. “They boycott me, they are afraid I’ll get too much exposure. When ppl say I’m “under-rated” or ‘slept-on’ … it’s not entirely the case… ‘suppressed’ is a better word. All my social media outlets are heavily monitored and my reach is crippled.”
He then thanks TIP for his support. The rapper formerly known as T.I. signed B.o.B to his Grand Hustle label at the beginning of his career.
“Thank God @Tip got my back and he still in my corner, #HustleGang #NoGenre,” he writes. “To every fan who has ever gave me a RT, a follow, or a like… thank you for spreading the word. You’ve done more promo than the label.”
Even though he doesn’t name Atlantic, B.o.B released his debut album, B.o.B Presents: The Adventures of Bobby Ray through Grand Hustle in 2010, which was an Atlantic imprint. Grand Hustle signed to Columbia in 2013, but B.o.B stayed with Atlantic and released his next three albums with the label, including this year’s Psycadelik Thoughtz.
Waka Flocka Flame has also blasted Atlantic Records this year, saying the label is withholding Flockaveli 2.
What you want you? A house or a car?
Forty acres and a mule, a piano, a guitar?
Anything, see, my name is Uncle Sam on your dollar.
Motherfucker you can live at the mall
I know your kind (That’s why I’m kind)
Don’t have receipts (Oh man, that’s fine)
Pay me later, wear those gators
Cliche and say, fuck your haters
I got it listen to his new album and I say even tho it free I haven’t listen to it that much, it just don’t have any songs that truly stand out even while I’m writing this can’t think of any from that album.
Atlantic sucks when it comes to hip hop. From Lupe, to Flocka, to BoB, they keep hip hop artists suppressed.
this could of been so good hes a great rapper an prod .. but hes way to pop for me
The reason atlantic aint fukin with him is cuz noone is checkin on BoB. Mad annoying
B.O.B = G.O.A.T jk lol
Go to the dude selling mixtapes in your local gas station parking lot. Then ask for BoB and see what he says. It will make you laugh.
B.O.B is dope to me. Very talented.
Another lost in the Atlantic*long live the 80s & 90s
