B.G. Wishes Soulja Slim A Happy Heavenly Birthday: ‘I Miss My Dawg’

B.G. has decided to take to social media and give honor to the late Soulja Slim on what would’ve been his 46th birthday.

On Saturday (September 9), the Hot Boys rapper went on Instagram and uploaded a throwback video of Slim’s mom giving honor to her son on his birthday.

The video also includes a snippet of the former No Limit artist rapping alongside B.G. and sharing a few laughs toward the end.

“Waaahhhh! What’s up world?,” B.G. said in the caption. “Today is the BDay of my big brother and 1 of the realist and dopest niggas to ever pick up a mic and walk the treacherous streets of #ChopperCity … #SouljaSlim.”

He continued: “Words can’t explain how much I miss my dawg.. I know if he was still here the face of #hiphop would look totally different..with that being said, he’s living threw me, so prepare for the #TheHeartOfTheStreets and #TheGhostOfJamesTapp.”

Soulja Slim was shot and killed on November 6, 2003 on the front lawn of his mother’s home in New Orleans. The assailant shot him a total of four times — three times in the face and once in the chest. Roughly a month later, police arrested 22-year-old Garelle Smith in connection with the murder.

Officers discovered a stolen police pistol in Smith’s possession with a scratched-off serial number. A ballistics test matched bullets from the gun to the ones that killed Slim, but no witnesses would testify against him. By 2008, Smith had been arrested for three more murders, but all charges were dropped and he was released due to a lack of witnesses and New Orleans’ 60-day law.

Smith’s murders then became cold cases, but he himself was found shot to death in August 2011.
