Azealia Banks Blasts Dolce & Gabbana Collection, Calls It “Racist”

From T.I. to Jim Jones, Harlem upstart Azealia Banks hasn’t been known to play well with others. Now, according to Vibe, the outspoken emcee and singer has set her sight on a new target: Dolce & Gabbana.

Banks took to Twitter this past weekend to assail the Italian fashion label over their latest Spring 2013 collection, which she thought was racist. She said that the images of black women used in a number of D&G’s items were reminiscent of Jim Crow imagery and plans to boycott the designer.

According to sources, the collection that raised Banks’ ire was inspired by the Italian designers’ Sicilian roots. Images of the controversial clothing items can be found over at Vibe.

    1. That’s Iggy Azalea lmao Azealia Banks is this random bitch that makes random beef either beefing with other female rappers cuz she’s jealous that they’re getting more attention than her or dissing Jim Jones and now Dolce and Gabanna this bitch does anything for attention

    2. look at the shit she’s talking about..looks like some straight aunt jemima bullshit on the clothes..i agree with her..

      1. which part of them needing “a swift kick in the mouth and big dick up the ass” did you not read? she needs to check herself.

    3. we need more sexy black women like this in the industry..instead of the lil kim/nicki minaj “im dying to be white..or anything but black” bullshit

    4. Before yall talk smack about her.. Check the pics out… Very questionable. Why in the world would you have a black woman’s head on earrings?

    5. this chick a porn star or something?….. another internet star?… another opinion from a nobody… who cares

    6. Hi I’m Hiphopdx’s new troll. My name is Malone. Most of you may just know me as that dick head who leaves a lot of space in between comments that fill up the entire page. A lot of you may say well “it obvious this loser is a celibate corn ball who has no life”. Well, you may very well be partially right. On the contrary Maybe the concept of the human existence has become a bit of parody to me. Maybe this may be a method to making my existence a little less dull until a real solution comes I am a force of nature like a bull’s penis, butt fucking any obstacle in my path. See we all want to butt fuck our obstacles in life. That’s why we get hard ons when problems arise. Sex and death are close cousins. It pulsates through out every thing we do. I am a good person aside from having intercourse with the mothers of my enemies and filming inter-species animal porn… you know {cat on dog, cat and praying mantis, goat and lion cub…that kind of thing) I am on my way to recovery.. I feel you see me as the type of individual you would like to join you for a drink or attend your child’s baptismal. I’m a simple man.. Azaelia Banks is and unsimple individual. She could save me from this existence by marrying me but then again why would I want that? wait…. what?

      Sincerely
      -Malone

    7. Mammie?? Did you see the earrings the models wore? They were carved in the shape of Moorish women. smh

I upset she didn’t address the lack of diversity amongst the models that D&G chose.

    8. The last ad campaign I saw of D&G saw three or four swarthy guys surrounding a female on her back…it said: “wear D&G and pack rape”…”do a train”.Luv you like I do Azaelia….but Racist???…I dunno bout that. Cant even say monkey in a DX comment in which the artist being interviewed refers to his peers as monkeys. You sure you meant racist or rapist…either way the D&G marketers could still be sodomised with a big dick.

Blackamoor figures (Italian moretto, moretti) – are depictions of black Africans used in sculpture, jewelry, armorial designs and decorative art.

      1. Thanks for the insight man. Without having any knowledge of “blackamoor figures” I actually think they kind of looked nice. Not distasteful at all.

I would say her label mates song “Birthday Dance” is stereotyping hip hop/black culture and pretty much degrading it. It would be beneficial for everyone to boycott that so called music.
